"Josh Boone's latest directorial effort, Test of Time, hits familiar beats with earnest sincerity. Though the film doesn’t exactly break new ground - leaning on several well-worn teen drama tropes and sidelining deeper character arcs in favor of a tidy resolution. Its emotional beats land, and the cast is likable, but its reliance on clichés and lack of risk prevent it from standing out in the teen drama genre." - Dave Manning, Ridgefield Press
"Wyatt Oleff brings an easy charm to a film that lovingly recreates the look and feel of 90s high school life. While it takes a little too long for the emotional engine to really kick in, once it does, the film finds its groove in a quiet, heartfelt way. It’s not reinventing the genre, but it doesn’t need to. It thrives on sincerity, solid performances, and a bittersweet sense of time slipping by. A slow burn, but a rewarding one." - Dexter Quinn, Cinematic Observer Newsletter
“It’s always nice to see a writer trying something new (it’s the first Billy has gone for a romantic drama), and you can see the intent throughout the entire film. However, it runs far too long and as a result, parts that feel like they could’ve gone shorter drag for too long, leaving you looking at your watch instead of wondering what comes next. For any drama or romance film? That’s fatal.” - Mitchell Parker, New York Times
Rated PG-13 for brief strong language, underage drinking, and thematic material
