In
this off-season segment, LRF writers have answered the same
Proust-inspired questionnaire that the late great James Lipton would ask
his guests on Inside the Actors Studio. Welcome to Inside the Writers
Studio! For this post, we have the questionnaire of Wyatt Allen (The Life Survey, A German Tragedy)....
What is your favorite word?
That's tough
to say, I think it's mostly the context that makes words mean something
but if we are just going by sound, I would go with "Eichhörnchen" the
German word for squirrel.
What is your least favorite word?
"Massachusetts", because I can't pronounce it.
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Exciting
new ideas, passionate people who are just a bit out of the ordinary.
Finding interesting places, music, movies or any other form of art.
What turns you off?
Doing things in a certain way because "that's how we have always done it".
What is your favorite curse word?
maybe "fuck"?
What sound or noise do you love?
I love the sound of rain.
What sound or noise do you hate?
People coughing and sneezing
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Growing
up in Germany I always wanted to be a football player. Play alongside
Lionel Messi for F.C. Barcelona and win the World Cup with Germany. But I
kind of let go of that dream.
I would love to learn a craft, even though I'm not that skillful. But I think being able to build things is really cool.
What profession would you not like to do?
Something
where I would have to be a public figure, like a chancellor or mayor
something like that. I don't think I would enjoy that
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"You beat cancer and than went back to work at that carpet store? boo!"
But
seriously I'm not religious, so it's hard for me to really imagine a
situation like this. In the end I would just hope that I could say that
I've lived a happy and fulfilled life.
Thanks to Wyatt Allen for answering these difficult
questions. Stay tuned for the next Inside the Writers Studio in a few days!
