Plot: For 40 years, a civil war has raged within the Mishima Family for control of the Mishima Zaibatsu Corporation. The King of Iron Fist tournament in a legendary martial arts competition with the best fighters in the world for glory, honor and money. After disappearing following his skirmish with his inner demon Azazel, Jin Kazama has recently resurfaced recruiting many of the world's greatest fighters to help him on a perilous mission that will set him against his family members again.

Kyoto
A blonde woman dressed in black, Nina Williams (Katheryn Winnick), stands on the roof of a building and is looking intently into the distance with a special device at a girl dressed in an orange schoolgirl uniform. The girl, student Ling Xiaoyu (Jessie Mei Li), is running around the crowded streets of Kyoto with a worried face along with her trusty companion, a specially trained Panda. Meanwhile, people are surprised and amused to see this strange scene. Xiaoyu is as often happens late for her best friend Miharu Hirano's birthday party after she accidentally fell asleep on the sofa at home. Suddenly a black car tries to overwhelm her but the girl manages to dodge it with a great reflex and jumps on the back of the Panda. At this point they enter a narrow alley while the car is unable to pass and crashes violently against the wall.

However, Xiaoyu soon finds herself surrounded by many gunmen from the G-Corporation led by Anna Williams (Emily Beecham). Anna greets the girl with contempt and asks where Jin is hiding. Xiaoyu says she never saw him again making Anna laugh. At that precise moment a wanderer, with a dangling walk and an almost empty bottle of vodka in his hand, approaches asking politely if he can pass. The man has a blanket on his head to protect himself from the cold. Two armed men approach threatening to chase him away but the man throws the blanket and hits the two men first with the bottle and then with two strong punches, throwing them a few meters away. The man is revealed to be the fighter Paul Phoenix (Travis Fimmel). Paul turns to Xiaoyu telling her that he is there to save her and starts fighting with other gunmen. The girl initially looks at him with a confused air and then with a mischievous smile she throws her backpack to the ground saying in a low voice "Save me?". At this point the girl orders Panda to attack her and the girl joins the fight proving to be very agile and very skilled in the special martial arts Hakke Sho and Hika Ken. A soldier urges others to use weapons to kill them. Anna scolds them for their idiot behavior and orders them not to shoot because she wants Xiaoyu alive. At that moment she hears a female voice calling her behind her. As Anna spins around nervously, a powerful kick hits her in the jaw and knocks her to the ground. Nina greets her sister by asking if she has missed her and that it is always her pleasure to see her. Anna gets up and hits her back at her Nina saying it's a pleasure only when her sister's pretty face is hit. At that point the two women begin to fight each other. Meanwhile, Xiaoyu tries to escape the shots of a soldier who is intent on shooting her, even though she Anna had ordered not to. Paul realizes this and grabs a dead soldier and throws him at the one who was shooting at the girl. Later Xiaoyu finishes hitting the last gunmen and escapes with Paul and Panda taking advantage of the fight between the two Williams sisters.

The three catch up with Paul's jeep and run away at full speed. Xiaoyu asks Paul where they are going, but Paul doesn't answer because he's busy driving fast. Xiaoyu then asks what will become of Nina. At the same instant, a noise coming from the roof of the car, as if something had hit her, scares Xiaoyu. The camera shows that Nina has reached the car and landed on the roof of the van. Then they break through a gate and reach for a helicopter. The three get out of the jeep and at that moment Nina jumps off the roof of the vehicle and gives Paul a high-five while Xiaoyu and Panda were already in a defensive position. Paul tells the girl that Nina is with them and they get on the helicopter. Meanwhile, Anna watches the helicopter fly away as it wipes a streak of blood from her mouth and she instantly kills a gunman with a fit of rage by breaking his neck.

Inside the helicopter, Xiaoyu asks Nina where they are going but the woman replies that she will be explained to her in due course.

In the G-Corporation build, Kazuya Mishima is scornfully watching a TV interview in which his father Heihachi claims the Mishima Zaibatsu, introducing himself to the public as a benevolent benefactor who wants to repair the damage Jin and Kazuya have caused over the years. Then he is joined by Anna Williams who apologizes for the delay. Kazuya tells Anna to show her Xiaoyu but Anna takes a step back and tells that he captured her but then she managed to escape thanks to Paul and Nina. Kazuya gets angry and throws the desk in the air screaming that he wants to find him Jin's son. A moment later Kazuya takes his head in his hands because he has severe pains and powerful visions (where he sees demonic images of Heihachi, Devil Jin as well as a mysterious silhouette of a winged humanoid) which end after a few moments. Anna approaches and asks the man if she is okay insisting that these visions become more and more frequent. At that point Kazuya gets nervous and tries to hit her. However, the woman dodges the blow, which hits the wall creating a hole. Then Kazuya reminds her that she doesn't have to worry about him, but she has to worry about what will happen to her if she doesn't find Jin as promised. The woman says with a smile that she always keeps her promises and walks out the door.

Meanwhile, the helicopter lands near an isolated house in the Hida Mountains. Xiaoyu is eager to know where she is and Paul reassures her that it is a safe home. Paul gets off the helicopter opening a beer and enters the house while Xiaoyu strokes Panda on the head while a shadow appears behind them. The girl suddenly turns and finds herself facing a man with folded arms and a leopard-print mask, King II (Dave Bautista). The surprised girl tries to hit him by saying they have a score to settle from the last Iron Fist Tournament but King jumps and avoids the attack. At that point Nina who takes the girl by the arm and throws her to the ground screaming that they are not there to fight. As the girl gets up from her he asks why I'm there and sees that in front of her there is a sword stuck in the ground. She immediately recognizes that weapon and in fact Yoshimitsu (Mark Dacascos) appears in front of her. Yoshimitsu is the leader of a ninja lineage who has samurai armor like old Japanese warriors and a skull-like mask. Next to Yoshimitsu is also Kunimitsu (Pom Klementieff) with her face covered in a white fox mask. Xiaoyu is surprised to see Kunimitsu, as she appeared to have been dead or missing for some years.

A moment later someone else appears, a hooded man comes out of the house apologizing for keeping the mystery up to that moment. Surprised Xiaoyu screams Jin's name (Lewis Tan). In fact, the hooded man was Jin Kazama. She then she asks him what happened to him and that he looks awful. Jin tells the girl that he was close to death and that he is still paying the consequences. Then the group enters the house as Kunimitsu nods to Yoshimitsu and leaves by easily jumping into the trees to return to his village in the mountains. Jin then tells her why they were there: he tells her that he needs her. He tells her that when he was still in command of the Zaibatsu, he had hidden an archive of weapons and artifacts on an island. Jin says they are very dangerous and that he needs the girl to help him retrieve them before Heihachi Mishima finds out. While they are arguing, Panda starts scratching. At one point a silver ball falls to the ground and Paul asks the bear "Why don't you stop scratching? Do you have fleas, bear?" In response, Panda throws a powerful punch at the man, who flies into the air, while Xiaoyu laughs at him that she must never call him a "bear". Nina picks up the silver ball, saying it wasn't a flea. Jin yells that he's a G-Corporation tracker. At that moment Kunimitsu opens the door, seriously injured and says in a low voice "They are coming ...". Kunimitsu has a broken arm, it burns much of her body and her mask is nearly destroyed, revealing her facial features. Yoshimitsu takes a few steps to get closer to her but an explosion of her hits her causing her to explode, probably killing her. At that point Kazuya appears with Anna beside him.

Kazuya tells Jin that when news of her death reached him, it was too good to be true. Yoshimitsu rushes towards the two full of anger but Kazuya avoids the attack and advises them to look up. An army of Jack-7 cyborgs begins to land from the sky amidst the dust caused by the explosion. Anna orders the cyborgs to attack while she exchanges a defiant look with her sister. At this point the other fighters present begin to fight as Kazuya begins to approach her son Jin and Paul gets in the middle of her telling him that she cannot pass. Meanwhile, in the background Yoshimitsu stabs a cyborg with his sword, Xiaoyu destroys the head of another cyborg with a flying knee, and Panda fights bravely demonstrating his physical power. During the brief confrontation between Paul and Kazuya where the American ends up on the carpet, Jin starts to back away with his hands on his head, a voice in his head begins to disturb him. The devil gene within him has become much stronger and more powerful and Jin fears that if he engages in battle again, the devil will consume him forever. The devil often talks to Jin in his mind, trying to get him to give in to his anger and fight. Jin, desperate to keep his humanity, vehemently refuses to fight. At that moment, the man is attacked by a Jack-7 but Nina intervenes just in time to move Jin. Nina jumps on the cyborg's head, turning him around with her legs and then throws him to the ground as she tells Jin to start defending himself if he doesn't want to die. Jin, however, seems immersed in the demonic voice that speaks to him in his head and in the meantime another Jack-7 attacks Nina with her mobile fists. Suddenly, as Jin tries to get out of the battle, he is hit by a powerful blow from Kazuya that calls him just a coward. So, as long as his son is on the ground, he keeps hitting him until Jin begs him to stop. When Kazuya hears these words and laughs at his son, almost denying him. Kazuya takes his son by the neck and lifts him off the ground telling him that he will kill him once and for all. Meanwhile, the voice in Jin's head continues to whisper that it is time to kill. At that moment King intervenes, nudging Kazuya on the back and then with his submissive move moves towards him, blocking him and almost preventing him from breathing. At one point Kazuya manages to react and escapes King's grasp, who is hit with a series of very powerful punches. Behind them Jin starts screaming and starts to change his appearance taking on a semblance of demonic aspect and angrily approaches his father who prepares to hit him, who smiles saying that he finally recognizes his son. Nina arrives screaming not to, grabbing Jin and ordering Xiaoyu to lead him to the helicopter as she tries to restrain Kazuya. Paul says to move but Xiaoyu asks him what will become of the others. Paul tells her that she should care about Jin and that others should take care of themselves. Jin is nearly helpless due to the partial transformation and Xiaoyu helps him get to the helicopter. Nina tries to attack Kazuya, when King arrives again who tries to block Kazuya and orders her to go and tells her to do what is right. The helicopter leaves and Nina with a powerful jump manages to grab the plane just in time. Kazuya breaks free from King and hits him in a way that knocks him out and yells at Anna to stop them. Anna nods and takes a missile launcher from a briefcase. At that point, however, Nina says smiling "Bye bye .." pressing a button in her pocket causing a big explosion. The few Jack-7s still intact are destroyed as Anna is thrown several meters away and she risks falling into a ravine but she manages to hold on and not fall. Anna, then, while she tries to go up, sees that Kazuya is standing still looking at the sky, indifferent to the woman's difficulty. Anna then ironically tells him that she is fine and that she doesn't need help. Kazuya goes away muttering.

After the battle, inside Paul's helicopter, there is a moment of calm where everyone is sorry for King's likely death despite Nina saying she knew she knew. Xiaoyu remembers that Yoshimitsu is also missing but Paul tells her to look out the window where she sees the ninja following them thanks to her levitation ability. Nina turns on her laptop to look for some other rival Kazuya fighters who can help them with the disappearance of Kunimitsu and King and starts scrolling through the profiles of many other fighters from past tournaments. Paul tries to name Lee Chaolan and Lei Wulong but Nina shakes her head saying that the former appears to have disappeared while the other is engaged in a major case in Beijing of murdered people where he works as a detective. Then she names Julia Chang but she remembers that she is committed in South America against deforestation and is nowhere to be found. At one point Xiaoyu points to the laptop screen. "The Half French? Are you sure?" asks Nina. From the pilot's seat a scream from Paul shakes the aircraft, losing control of it for a moment. "Please no! That insufferable spoiled girl no!" Paul yells. Xiaoyu chuckles saying that if you really know her well, really well, she's not that bad. At that point Nina tries to contact Lili Rochefort (Peyton List). The girl responds with her typical French accent from her sumptuous room in a sleepy voice as she combs her blond hair with one hand. Nina tries to explain the situation but Lili responds by saying that she has to go to Paris to get a new dress with her butler Sebastian. The fighters, more than by Lili's words, are intrigued by her shadowy presence behind her. Paul, who had put on autopilot and had moved away from the others, asks who he is. From the dim light emerges a girl (Emma Dumont) with black hair, in a red bodice with two horns on her head. Her nails are colored with black nail polish and her eyes are outlined in red while her lips have dark purple lipstick. The girl is drinking from a goblet with some red liquid in it. "This is my sister Eliza," Lili says in a girlish voice. Eliza sighs saying no and that she has told her her story many times. At that point the two begin to argue and fight inside the room and the phone call ends. Paul first asks if for the others the liquid in the glass was wine or blood and then returns to the driver's seat saying in a knowing tone that Lili is really nice. At that point Jin begins to regain consciousness. Xiaoyu takes it out on a resigned Jin asking him why she didn't try to fight. Jin with an angry and threatening tone to take the demonic form of her says that she cannot fight because of the demon inside him and that he gains power every time he fights and that if he came out in all his power it would be a catastrophe. Nina calms Jin by telling him to stop while horns begin to grow in the young man's head. Paul tells the others that he is sorry to interrupt their discussion, warning that they had arrived at their destination, Usiyi Island in the North Pacific.

When they land on the island Paul says he needs fuel and Nina says there should be some on the island. She then she calls Yoshimitsu and orders Panda, Paul and Xiaoyu to stay with Jin. Yoshimitsu and Nina enter the woods and arrive at a basic species hidden in the vegetation. At one point the ninja says he is being followed by someone and rushes into the vegetation. A moment later he comes out holding Xiaoyu by the shirt. Nina snorts and scolds the girl. The girl, a bit annoyed, replies that Panda was left behind instead of her. The three enter the structure that contains all the artifacts to look for the number 333. As they enter Xiaoyu is surprised and Yoshimitsu comments that he was truly impressive. Xiaoyu, breathless, remains to observe the objects placed in that place. Nina comments that half of the stuff that was in that place shouldn't exist. Xiaoyu is thrilled to see those objects, such as the anti-gravity platform. When Nina reaches the container where the object should have been, she sees that it is empty and begins to worry, believing that someone had taken it before them. On the ground, near the container, Nina finds a white feather that gives off a turquoise light. When Nina touches the feathers, an alarm sounds saying "Intruder. Intruder." along with the noise of a chainsaw. Then a girl with pink hair and a purple dress arrives in front of them, equipped with a chainsaw in each arm and a pair of robotic wings and, in fact, that girl was an android and with her there were many tall identical clones . The three acknowledge that they were clones of Alisa Boskonovitch (Veronika Vernadskaya). Alisa was created by her father, Dr. Boskonovitch (with the features of his deceased daughter), to protect Jin. She is equipped with metal wings and thrusters on the legs and back and dangerous retractable chainsaws and explosive head. At this point the fight begins. Xiaoyiu tries to tell an android that they are friends with her but Nina warns her by telling her to fight because none of them are the real Alisa and that they are probably prototypes created by Mishima Zaibatsu. Yoshimitsu cuts off an android's head with his sword, but his head explodes laughing at the ninja being thrown a few meters away as Nina breaks another android's metal arm and then uses it to hit him. The android, however, shoots the other arm as if it were a missile and the woman crashes into the wall. Xiaoyu also appears to be in trouble. At some point Paul arrives with Panda to balance the situation and the androids are quickly defeated. Meanwhile, Jin, who also arrived with Paul, looks into his device for the artifact, but there is a strange error in the passcode. At some point, a poisonous gas begins to escape from the vents which begin to expand in all environments. All the characters are forced to flee quickly. Once outside, they realize that Nina is missing. As Paul punches a tree and destroys it in anger, Nina's voice is heard coming peacefully holding a half-destroyed head in her hands that can be used to recover important data. Xiaoyu laughs that Nina always manages to survive in any dangerous situation. The group enters the helicopter and Jin sets to work to retrieve some data from the android's head.

Meanwhile, at the G Corporation headquarters, Anna tells Kazuya that they are not the only ones looking into Heihachi Mishima's systems. At the same time, at the Mishima Zaibatsu headquarters, Heihachi's secretary informs him that unauthorized subjects had entered the archive. Heihachi then asks what they were looking for. The woman replies that they were looking for the artifact 333. Heihachi orders the woman to let them in and take the artifact, saying "Give the people what they want ... and they will come to you."

Mishima Zaibatsu, Tokyo, a few hours later.
An armored van breaks through the defenses and enters the building's parking lot. Special teams of Mishima surround the vehicle and start shooting. Meanwhile Kazuya and Anna are watching the scene at the G-Corporation headquarters with interest thanks to the hacked security cameras. Suddenly, from the van, Yoshimitsu comes out, who with super speed impales several men with his sword. Soon after, all the other fighters get out of the van and start fighting as Jin rushes into the building. Nina orders Xiaoyu to go with him.

At that point, a giant modified grizzly bear, named Kuma, is released as a last-ditch defense. Kuma roars and pounces on Paul with sharp nails but Panda steps in front of him and is hit by a powerful blow that also scratches his face and is rolled several meters away. Nina immediately rushes there to check on her friend's condition while Paul is also shot. Meanwhile, Yoshimitsu and Kuma are fighting. The bear ferociously attacks the ninja who manages to defend himself from blows with his sword until it escapes from his hand. As he is about to be hit, someone kicks the bear. The camera captures Lili Rochefort and Eliza who have arrived jumping off their personal plane, probably driven by butler Sebastian. Paul looks at Lili whispering "she will also be unpleasant but she is the strong girl". Lili tells Nina and the others to go inside the facility because they would take care of the bear. The two begin to wrestle with the powerful and resistant bear and become aware of a device on the animal's neck.

Jin e Xiaoyu walk through the corridors as Xiaoyu chases Jin to learn more about this powerful artifact when they arrive at the room where the artifact is. Jin says it was a mistake, the biggest mistake he ever made. In front of them, a blonde woman with angel wings is connected to a car with pipes. Xiaoyu, remembering the feather Nina found, asks who she is. Jin explains that her name is Angel (Erin Moriarty), the good part of her as her father Kazuya and the only thing that can counteract the devil gene that her family has within them. Jin reveals to Xiaoyu that Angel tried to save her father from the devil more than 20 years ago (In-Game Events: Tekken 2) as she is the only being in existence who can completely neutralize the devil gene. When he became the leader of the Zaibatsu, Jin tracked Angel down and locked her up, experimenting on her to find a way to harness her power against the devil's gene consumers. She wanted her to neutralize her she devil gene too after he destroyed Azazel (for which she needed her devil gene) and then kept her locked up. She says she hid it in the archive to save it and prevent Heihachi from finding it, but that wasn't enough. Then the two try to free her before it's too late, but she, in a whisper, says she already is. He strokes her head as she tells her not to worry about her, but about her friend. Jin turns and sees Heihachi surrounded by electric shocks holding Xiaoyu by her neck lifting her off the ground, greeting her granddaughter and saying that she was waiting for him. He then throws the girl on the wall with incredible power. Jin tries to help but is hit by Heihachi as he is called a pacifist. Heihachi throws his nephew to the ground and Xiaoyu intervenes by kicking him in the face. Heihachi throws her to the ground with a fist of her telling her not to meddle. Then he approaches Angel reminding Jin that she is owned by Mishima Zaibatsu and can do whatever she wants with it and invites Jin to get angry to unleash her inner demon. At this point she connects with another machine by connecting to Angel. Jin yells at the ninth thing she is trying to do. Heihachi inserts a code into the computer telling Jin that he wants to be a command, no longer just a human and full of potential. He wants to transfer Angel's power into his body so that he can exert his power to destroy the devil gene (and the devils within Jin and Kazuya) forever. A moment later a flash of light hits Heihachi. As Xiaoyu begins to regain consciousness, Heihachi laughs satanically surrounded by a blue aura and bright eyes. Furthermore, two wings were born on his back.

In the meantime, with a combined attack, the two girls manage to block and destroy the device, a gesture that makes the bear much more tame, and a moment later he faints from fatigue. The two compliment each other until Kazuya and Anna appear behind them and quickly knock them out and enter. Anna and Kazuya arrive at the Zaibatsu research laboratories. Kazuya, then, confirms that she has the feeling Jin was in that place. where Kazuya is struck by another powerful vision. He realizes that his visions of her came from Angel, who had been trying to contact him to help him. When Kazuya realizes that Angel is still alive, she looks shaken for a moment and part of him almost seems happy. Meanwhile, Heihachi is almost completely empowered by Angel's power. Kazuya and Anna run to the facility where Paul and the other fighters are facing the rest of Mishima's special teams. Kazuya and Paul begin to fight. Kazuya asks where Angel is. Paul, not knowing what he was talking about, says he knows nothing. Kazuya then replies that he was useless and breaks the American's back while Nina arrives late to help him. At that moment Anna attacks Nina saying that this will be the final showdown.

Anna attacks Nina but Nina manages to block her head and throw her at a steel column, seriously injuring her. When this happens Nina is almost sad about it and almost approaches her sister. Anna with a faint voice orders "Fire .." Suddenly the soldiers of the G-Corp burst into the room and open fire, hitting Nina, Panda and Yoshimitsu with bullets and the fighters fall to the ground. The fighters then lie dead in their own blood. Anna dies a few seconds later. Kazuya barely notices the carnage and hurries, her mind seems to have only Angel in mind. Kazuya begins looking for Angel, ordering the soldiers to stay in position. Meanwhile, Heihachi, grinning, states that the transfiguration was complete as he begins, thanks to his large white feathered wings, to fly. But Heihachi crashes soon after due to his wings having disappeared at any moment. Angel yells that Heihachi has been deemed unworthy and will never receive her power. Heihachi, enraged at having lost his newly acquired powers, promises that his powers will be his and that he will witness his own glory. As Heihachi tries to use the computer to find a solution, Xiaoyu stands up and kicks him hard in the face, causing him to pass out. Xiaoyu helps Jin free Angel. Angel rebels by saying not to touch her and crashing Jin.

Angel has not forgiven Jin for the torture he subjected her to in the past and declares him irredeemable because he would like to use his existence and his light again to end the world war that he himself created. Then she says that she just wanted to help take the devil gene out of Kazuya and was tortured for it. Jin apologizes by saying that he needed her to fight the Devil Gene and stating that that was why he went to her. Angel tells him that he only thinks of himself and that the world should get rid of him. Angel, as he speaks, uses his powers to allow dead fighters to be forgiven for their sins and become angels, claiming that they died because of him and that they must live in peace.

Nina, Paul, Panda, Anna and Yoshimitsu, now angels, attack Jin, Xiaoyu and Heihachi, the latter yelling at Jin to stop standing there and help them. Jin kneels down, saying that Angel was right and that he deserved it all. Anna (transformed) blames him for her sins and prepares to attack him. Kazuya, as soon as he arrives, grabs Anna's leg telling her that Jin was a Mishima and that her bad deeds were also the fault of her family, throwing Anna at Yoshimitsu. Kazuya and Heihachi, annoyed by the fact that Jin did nothing to help them, begin to insult him. Jin, even if trying not to do it, provoked by the insults, turns into Devil Jin. The latter begins to unleash his fury against the angels. Devil Jin frees Angel. The latter, furious, accumulates her powers and then grabs it and, destroying one side of the building, the two begin to fight outside, in the night sky. Jin claims that there is nothing more she can do for him, but Angel claims that she tried to help Kazuya but says that he is lost, as she has almost the same personality as Heihachi. Angel then tells him that there is only one person who can stop the Devil's Gene: him, Jin Kazama. Then, a huge explosion occurs in the sky. Following the explosion, Angel appears to have disappeared and Jin falls from the sky into the desert.

Nina wakes up in the destroyed building looking around and sees so much confusion next to her. Kazuya is in the car with Anna, intent on looking in the mirror. Xiaoyu and Panda watch the night-shrouded city from the side where the building was destroyed as they listen to her friend Miharu Hirano on the phone and are joined by the real Alisa. Lili and Eliza are at their house fighting while having fun. Paul, in a bar, had started drinking beer again. Nina climbs to the roof of a building, standing looking at the city, intent on finding Jin Kazama, who had disappeared. The fighters think they have only dreamed of being angels. Finally, Angel's voice is heard saying "Who can save the man who can't save himself?"

Post-Credits:

Interview: Billy Cruder

In this edition of Interview, Last Resort Films president Phil Dolan sits down for an interview with Billy Cruder (Bad Dreams Come True, He Kills) to discuss his latest video game film, Tekken: Blood Feud, and other video game adaptations....

PD: There's been a lot of build up to your first theatrical Tekken film. What are your expectations for the film?

BC: It was an intense and quite fun job to create a world based on the Tekken universe. I know that the films written so far have been received by critics in a fluctuating way due to too many characters and with unnecessarily complicated plots but I did try to do my best. I also tried to make different films so as to have different targets. As for Tekken: Blood Feud when I wrote it I was quite satisfied with my work and I was optimistic but in recent weeks there is growing fear that the film will go badly at the box office and that critics consider it a mediocre film, perhaps because the films in streaming didn't go very well. Still, I hope I'm wrong and taken for what it is, a fun fighting movie that doesn't get boring. Obviously, even here, inevitably, the characters are many and therefore probably for some it will be a defect ... I expect that the film will end for some reason in Top Three and for others in Bottom Three.

PD: Did the shutdown of LRF NOW change your plans for the potential future of the Tekken franchise at all?

BC: Yes, the closure of LRF Now created some problems because I had other characters in mind to develop and I had to cut and combine events as I did for example in Tekken: Mishima Origins. In the films for LRF Now I tried to give a background to the various characters and I had to invent many of the events because to tell the truth in the video game Tekken they are so-so from that point of view. For example in Tekken: Ninja Clan it is a practically all fictional story of me (the character of Toramitsu as well as that of Cherry do not exist in the video game) as well as part of the relationship of the Williams sisters. I tried to do the best and all in all I am quite satisfied but I am convinced that in the hands of a good writer the universe of Tekken would have proved to be really interesting and compelling.

PD: Having written the Dino Crisis films, Lost Planet, Adr1ft, and now the Tekken films, you're certainly no stranger to video game films. Do you have some favorite video game film adaptations in or outside LRF?

BC: Unfortunately so far most of the movies based on video games are mediocre and I didn't like them very much. Outside of LRF the Resident Evil saga has chapters that I am very fond of, especially the first and second. Silent Hill is a good movie with some interesting insights and then I found Rampage or Detective Pikachu cute. Here on LRF, however, I liked the movie about Grand Theft Auto, Heavy Rain and the sagas of Halo and Splinter Cell. The thing that bothers me most is that it was a shame that Dino Crisis came out in the first seasons of LRF because if I wrote it now it would surely be a better movie.

PD: You've had two actresses nominated for Best Actress between your eight films: Margot Robbie for Adr1ft and Elisabeth Moss for Bad Dreams Come True. Are there any other actresses you would like to work with?

BC: Especially Elisabeth Moss was very good in that film, which was also the best I've released so far. Of course ... there are actresses that I love, one of them is Rebecca Ferguson but first of all I will have to find a suitable role for her, I have heard that in the next few seasons she will be very busy for some films written by my colleagues but I don't know exactly in what roles. Another one that I love is Emma Stone but also for her I am waiting for a suitable role to make her look good because it would be a real shame if she ends up in an unsatisfactory project. Among the emerging actresses I really like Madison Iseman, Anya Taylor Joy, Kaitlyn Dever and Kathryn Newton.

PD: What's next for you?

BC: In Season 23 another film of mine will be released, a mixture of adventure and horror that will have as leader Tom Hiddleston which I hope will be appreciated. For the rest in the following seasons I have practically only some horror, some in my opinion can also be interesting.

"Despite an abundance of backstory for some of the characters, I still felt like they were developed in a way that did not make us care for any of them. This film was clearly expecting some big payoff with its twist, but it was visible a mile away. The Only Good Indians had a nice vibe to it, but the story didn't keep up." - Virgil Orbison, Odessa American

"Writer Rene Menzie and director Jeff Barnaby don't always do a very good job of explaining its story or developing its characters, but the film is filled with intriguing and spooky imagery that should please most horror fans. With some better editing, this one could been great instead of settling for pretty good." - Charlie Marko, Yorktown News

"This film is a journey. At times I felt it difficult to watch, but in the end I loved it. Sure a bit confusing in places and it could be tidied up, but overall I loved this film. The performance of Amber Midthunder was amazing, her ability to act in a nice manner as Shaney but change at the drop of a hat to the elk headed woman was amazing. She was the standout for me. Again not a perfect film but one I definitely enjoyed. Plus I like that more films about Native Americans are coming to LRF." - Arthur Watson, The Daily Telegraph

The Only Good Indians
Genre: Horror/Fantasy/Thriller
Director: Jeff Barnaby
Writer: Rene Menzie

Based on the novel by Stephen Graham Jones
Cast: Martin Sensmeier, Amber Midthunder, Kiowa Gordon, Alex Meraz, Mila Kunis, Gil Birmingham, Tatanka Means, Tanaya Beatty, Miika Bryce Whiskeyjack, Julian Ballentyne, Vincent D'Onofrio

Plot: In the present day, in Williston, North Dakota, follows Richard “Ricky” Boss Ribs (Tatanka Means). Ricky is a Native American of the Blackfeet community. Ricky grew up on the Blackfeet Reservation, but he left years ago. He has been working manual labor jobs, most recently a job with an oil-drilling crew. Ricky recently learned that his younger brother, Cheeto, died of a drug overdose in a home on the reservation. Ricky briefly reminisces about when he was still on the reservation, precisely when he went out hunting elk and other big games with some of his friends. Ricky arrives at a roadside bar one night and sees an elk. The elk suddenly slams itself into trucks in the parking lot, damaging them and setting off the alarms. The elk flees, and a group of white men emerges from the bar. Believing that Ricky was vandalizing their trucks, the men attack and kill Ricky.

A Blackfeet Native American named Lewis A. Clark (Martin Sensmeier). He has not lived on the reservation in years, but he still lives in Montana, specifically in Great Falls. He was a friend of Ricky years ago. Lewis lives with his wife, a white woman named Peta (Mila Kunis). They have a pet dog named Harley. Recently, Lewis had a strange vision of a dead elk lying in his home's living room. At this point, the novel offers little context to the vision, other than that Lewis has feelings of guilt associated with it.

Lewis goes to his job at the local post office. He has phone calls with Cass (Alex Meraz) and Gabe (Kiowa Gordon), two friends of his from the Blackfeet Reservation. They discuss the upcoming tenth anniversary of an important event, but they do not discuss the event in detail. They also mention Denny Pease (Vincent D'Onofrio), head of the local hunting and fishing commission, towards whom they feel some resentment.

Lewis arrives at his home with some local friends. In Lewis’ backyard, they find Lewis’ dog, Harley, apparently dying. Lewis had tethered Harley to a collar and leash. Something had scared the dog, causing it to climb over a decaying fence. Harley was now hanging by the collar, suffocating. When Lewis and his friends try to free the dog, the dog bites them.

Lewis tends to the dying Harley in his house. Lewis thinks about his relationship with Peta. He is grateful for her love and kindness. Lewis talks to Peta about a recent accident. Lewis was on a ladder when he thought he saw a dead elk in their home. The surprise caused him to fall and nearly become injured. Lewis thinks with a sense of guilt about shooting an adolescent female elk ten years ago.

Shaney (Amber Midthunder) visits Lewis. Shaney is a new coworker at Lewis’ work. Shaney asks to play basketball with Lewis and borrow a book from him. Lewis often reads sci-fi and fantasy novels. Shaney is flirtatious, which makes Lewis uncomfortable. Lewis notices scars on Shaney’s face and torso, but she offers no explanation.

A flashback takes place ten years ago. Lewis, Ricky, Gabe, and Cass were on or near the Blackfeet Reservation, hunting elk with rifles. They were excited by the idea of the hunt, which they felt would connect them to their ancestors in some symbolic way. It was snowing, and they were tracking elk footprints. They saw a herd of elk cross into an off-limits section, except to Blackfeet elders. The four hunters decided to venture into the area to follow the herd. Soon, they found an exceptionally large herd of elk, and they began firing their rifles into it. They each managed to kill at least one elk. Gabe dubbed the event the ‘Thanksgiving Classic,’ since it was almost Thanksgiving Day. At one point, the recoil of Lewis’s rifle causes his gun scope to hit his eye, leaving a wound. They approached the felled elk, and Lewis was disturbed to find that he had shot a juvenile female elk. It lay dying in the snow.

In Lewis’ home, Lewis had recounted the events of the Thanksgiving Classic to Shaney. Peta walked in and saw them. Peta felt betrayed; for Lewis to tell Shaney something so personal was akin to emotional infidelity. Peta becomes emotionally withdrawn in the following days. Also, the dying dog Harley appears to have new injuries, appearing as if he had been stomped by an elk. Lewis grows scared. He thinks back to the Thanksgiving classic, remembering with guilt that the elk he killed had been pregnant. The four hunters were caught by Denny Pease, the game warden, who then permanently revoked their hunting privileges.

two police officers arrive at Lewis’s home. They received a report about Harley biting someone. Lewis informs them that he euthanized and buried Harley. The officers are hostile towards Lewis, and they say that they will have to send someone to dig up Harley. Later, Lewis worries that the spirit of an elk he killed has begun to seek revenge upon him. Then he worries that he might be losing his sanity. Later that day, Lewis has a brief vision of a woman with the head of an elk.

Lewis is in bed, feeling restless. He thinks about how he angrily left the reservation after the Thanksgiving Classic debacle. Gabe and Cass eventually left as well. He hears a noise in or near the house. He sees no one around, but he does find the book that Shaney borrowed from him recently. In the book, he finds questions that Shaney has written, about the elk hunt and the recent strange events. Lewis realizes that, recently, the last of the Blackfeet who had been elders during the Thanksgiving Classic, died. Lewis wonders if their death has in some way enabled the recent events.

Lewis tries to refocus on his work and his marriage. However, he becomes plagued by the thought that, somehow, Shaney is the elk-headed woman that he saw. He soon becomes consumed with the idea that he needs to execute a specific series of actions to banish the elk woman from his life.

Lewis sees that Harley’s grave has apparently been dug up. When Lewis sees the sheets in which he had wrapped the body, their layout almost seems to indicate that Harley dug himself out and then walked away. Lewis asks Shaney to come to his house. Lewis tries to scrutinize her to have a vision of the dangerous spirit—the Elk Head Woman—again. He does not have a vision, but he remains convinced that she is the Elk Head Woman. Using a motorcycle, he orchestrates an ‘accident’ that breaks Shaney’s neck.

Lewis tries to figure out where to dispose of Shaney’s body. He also thinks back to the things that led him to believe that she was the Elk Head Woman, and he momentarily worries that he might have been paranoid or mistaken. He then worries that Shaney manipulated him into killing her to endanger Lewis’s life and freedom. Lewis believes that to banish the spirit, he must skin the body. However, Peta soon arrives home. Shortly thereafter, Peta suddenly trips, hits her head, and dies. Lewis sees something move within her stomach, and he cuts a baby elk out of her womb. Lewis picks up the elk and tries to escape with it. He is soon caught and killed by local vigilantes.

from the perspective of the vengeful elk spirit. It has now successfully achieved revenge against Ricky and Lewis. After Lewis killed Shaney, the elk spirit transferred itself into a fetus in Peta’s womb. The spirit then occupied the baby elk that Lewis cut out of Peta, but it has since transferred itself into another human body.

Denorah (Miika Bryce Whiskeyjack) is 12 years old and is the daughter of Gabe (full name Gabriel Cross Guns.) Denorah is a dedicated basketball player, and despite her young age, it is already apparent that she is exceptionally talented. Her goal is to be a professional basketball player. She does not have much passion for academics, but she is determined to maintain adequate grades to continue to play on school basketball teams. Denorah’s older stepsister, Trace, is currently attending college on a basketball scholarship. From a young age, Denorah noticed that white players/spectators often shout racist abuse at Native American ones. One day, Denorah sees a girl staring at her. The narration implies that this girl is the elk spirit.

Gabriel “Gabe” Cross Guns lives on the Blackfeet Reservation, which is headquartered in Browning, Montana. He shares custody of Denorah with Denorah’s mother, Trina Trigo. Trina is married to a different man. One day, Gabe shows Denorah an antique Mauser rifle he owns. Denorah brings up the subjects of Ricky and Lewis’s deaths. Gabe, saddened by the deaths, avoids the subject. He is also confused by the appearance that Lewis may have killed Peta and Shaney. While driving his truck, Gabe sees an unfamiliar girl. The narrative reveals that it is the elk spirit. The elk spirit plans on further morphing and changing its appearance so it will not matter that Gabe saw her.

Cass, whose first name is Cassidy Thinks Twice. Like Gabe, Cassidy still lives on the Blackfeet Reservation. Cassidy used to sell illegal drugs, but he is determined to live a more structured, law-abiding life now. He is in a relationship with Jolene (Tanaya Beatty), also known by her nickname "Jo", a woman from the Crow community. Recently, Gabe had the idea to do a traditional Native sweat lodge ritual, and Cassidy agreed to participate. Cassidy works to construct a small, makeshift sweat lodge. A few days before the ritual, Cassidy and Jo talk about Lewis’s recent death. Later in the conversation, Jo persuades Cassidy to hide the money he made from dealing drugs. He decides to hide it in a thermos under a rusted-out truck. Then, when Cassidy looks outside his home, he sees nearly a hundred elk, standing still, looking at him. He considers changing his name to Cassidy Sees Elk.

Gabe thinks about Ricky and Cheeto and Lewis, who are all now deceased. He also thinks of the unfamiliar girl he saw by the road recently. Gabe then thinks about Denorah and worries that, in her teenage or early adult years, she will grow restless and will seek trouble. He dislikes how basketball coaches sometimes suppress Denorah’s playing potential; he thinks of a Native folk legend about Natives who were too fast on their horses to be shot by settlers. The narration then reveals that Gabe has continued to hunt elk even though he was banned from doing so. At the end of the chapter, Gabe is driving his truck home, and he sees a full-grown woman wearing clothes that appear to be too small for her.

The narrative shifts focus to Denorah. She is practicing basketball on an outdoor court. Gabe arrives in his truck to greet her and wish her luck on tomorrow’s game. Denorah is a little uneasy when she realizes that Gabe has been illegally hunting. Also, her stepfather disapproves of Gabe.

Gabe meets with Cassidy in preparation for their sweat lodge ritual. A Blackfeet man named Victor Yellow Tail (Gil Birmingham) is paying Gabe and Cassidy to let Victor and his pre-teen son Nathan, also known as Nate (Julian Ballentyne). Victor works as a reservation police officer, meaning he is commissioned by the reservation, and his jurisdiction does not extend beyond the reservation's borders. After Gabe and Cassidy construct a makeshift sweat lodge, the two of them pass some time talking about their trucks, and about the antique Mauser gun that Gabe’s father gave to him.

The elk spirit watches Gabe, Cassidy, Victor, and Nathan congregate at the makeshift sweat lodge. Gabe explains to Nathan that the sweat lodge is a ritual of spiritual purity. Nathan asks Gabe and Cassidy about their recently deceased friends. Gabe and Cassidy evade the question and talk about native history and lore instead.

they enter the sweat lodge. Gabe continues to try to impress upon Nathan the significance of the ritual, but Nathan remains somewhat distant and skeptical. Nonetheless, they continue with the ritual as the steam begins to fill the lodge.

Victor waits outside the lodge and listens to the singing and drumming coming from inside. Soon, he hears movement from somewhere nearby. A woman approaches and attacks him. From the scene details, it is clear to the reader that the woman is the elk spirit, once again in the form of Shaney.

shifts focus back to the inside of the sweat lodge. Cassidy is enjoying the ritual, and he begins to think about ways that he might be able to have his hunting privileges reinstated. At the end of the hour-long ritual, Cassidy and Gabe commemorate Lewis and Ricky. Nathan commemorates a deceased friend of his named Tre, but he offers no explanation as to how Tre died. Cassidy considers it odd that Gabe, who is somewhat reckless, is still alive, while Ricky and Lewis are dead. Cassidy wonders if he and Gabe have better safety because they remained on the reservation. Cassidy and Gabe discuss the Thanksgiving Classic and tell Nathan about it. Since Victor is nowhere to be seen Cassidy walks to his house nearby. There, he speaks to Jo. Jo has just learned that one of the women Lewis killed (Shaney) is her cousin and that Shaney’s mother now has no surviving children.

shifts focus to Gabe. Gabe, Cassidy, and Nathan are drinking sodas near the sweat lodge, expecting Victor to return soon. Gabe briefly thinks with nostalgia about when he, Cassidy, Lewis, and Ricky were all friends as children. Soon, Gabe searches the vicinity for Victor. He finds two young dogs that have been fatally stomped, as if by a hoof. Gabe realizes that they belong to Cassidy, but he decides not to tell Cassidy about it, for now.

shifts focus to Nathan. Nathan is enjoying the sweat lodge and he tries to remember traditional Blackfeet words that he has learned in the past. He thinks fondly about Denorah and her fierce spirit. Then he wonders if he will be like Gabe and Cassidy when he is their age.

shifts focus to the perspective of the elk spirit. It waits near the sweat lodge and watches it. Cassidy emerges and finds his two dogs, which the elk spirit killed. Cassidy grows furious with Gabe, apparently thinking that Gabe killed the dogs. Cassidy and Gabe argue with each other, working themselves into a frenzy. Soon, they begin vandalizing Cassidy’s old truck. Gabe drives the truck a short way and appears to fatally strike Jo. Cassidy picks up Gabe’s gun and fires. He misses Gabe and appears to fatally strike Denorah. Gabe kills Cassidy. Gabe then realizes that Jo and Denorah were not actually present and that their deaths were some form of illusion. Gabe tries to think of where he might be able to go to live in secret. However, seeing no way out, he kills himself with the gun. The chapter ends with a newspaper article about local basketball games. The article states that a talent scout may be visiting games in the area. If the scout sees Denorah play in her upcoming scrimmage game, her talent will likely make her a standout, despite her relatively young age. Such recognition could bode well for her future scholarship prospects.

Denorah arrives at the sweat lodge on the morning after the sweat lodge ceremony. No one knows about the deaths yet. When she nears the sweat lodge and Cassidy’s house, she sees an unfamiliar woman, who claims that she is Shaney. (It is the elk spirit.) Shaney says that Cassidy, Gabe, Nathan, and Victor have gone on a brief horseback ride and will be back soon. She then challenges Denorah to a one-on-one basketball game on the nearby basketball court. Denorah accepts. They begin to play, and Denorah is shocked to see how skilled Shaney is.

Denorah and Shaney are tied at 15 points each, playing to 21. Denorah pushes herself to nearly her limit, determined to win for the dignity of Blackfeet. This thinking is compelled in part by Denorah’s knowledge that Shaney is a Crow, who are rivals of the Blackfeet. However, she also does not want to injure herself before her actual game, which is later that day. Shaney begins to grow unsteady, and she accidentally runs into the pole of the basket. Shaney becomes frenzied; her eyes change in appearance, and she begins to explain her true identity. Shaney insists that they continue the game. Denorah believes that Shaney might not kill her if Denorah can win the game. Soon, Victor appears, badly injured but still alive. He fires his gun at Shaney, who begins to transform into the Elk Head Woman. Denorah falls into the sweat lodge, which she now sees contains Cassidy and Gabe's dead bodies. Elk Head Woman kills Victor, and Denorah begins to run for her life.

Denorah continues to flee, and Elk Head Woman pursues her. Denorah searches for a place to hide. Denorah eventually reaches a railway, and the Elk Head Woman stops pursuing. Denorah recalls that elk have learned to avoid railroads as dangerous places.

Denorah continues to run through the reservation, in search of safety. The Elk Head Woman continues to pursue Denorah. Eventually, Nathan, who's injured but still alive, catches up to them on Cassidy’s horse. Denorah, recalling that the Elk Head Woman is Crow, feels determined no to let her win. Denorah tells Nathan to get help.

Denorah continues to run, but she falls into a ravine of thorny plants. She is badly injured and feels that she might die soon. She feels sad that she did not have a closer relationship with Gabe. She has a vision of bones. She wonders if they are the bones of slain Natives or the bones of elk killed by Gabe. Elk Head Woman approaches, and Denorah sees a newborn elk on the ground. Suddenly, Denorah’s stepfather arrives and shoots the Elk Head Woman. Denorah suddenly feels a sense of understanding for the Elk Head Woman. To stop the cycle of violence, Denorah expresses her compassion and respect to the woman with a hand gesture. Later, she adopts this gesture at the ends of basketball games, to show respect for the crow and all Native American communities.
