Welcome to the Season 26 Golden Reel Awards ceremony! Tonight we will be celebrating the best films released over LRF's 26th season. Tonight, 15 - exactly half of the season's films - are nominated for the 14 awards on the line. The nominees are dramatically led by the conclusion of the Julius Caesar Trilogy, Caesar Part III, with a whopping 11 nominations - tying Wish You Were Here for the all-time record.
AND NOW FOR THE AWARDS....
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Meirad Tako' Something and/or Nothing may have just thrown a serious wrench in the nights for Caesar Part III and Green Lantern Corps: Sinestro War by taking home this trophy, winning a GRA trophy in its only nominated category. This is second Best Production Design trophy awarded to a Meirad Tako-penned film, following Mr. Earthling back in Season 16.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Miracles takes home the Best Soundtrack GRA trophy in its first of seven nominations for the evening. This marks writer Chad Taylor's 4th Best Soundtrack, but his first since Season 12 when Doctor Love took home the gold. The night is done for The Monster Squad and Free the Chicago Seven! as this was the only category they had a nomination in. Miracles will still have six more chances, while The Invincible Iron Man has just one more chance in the next category: Most Wanted Sequel.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
The highly acclaimed Green Lantern Corps sequel has now won its first award of the evening, already surpassing its predecessor which failed to win in five nominations. In the early days of the award, writer APJ had a bit of a stranglehold on this category, winning four of the first eight Most Wanted Sequel trophies. However, APJ has not won this award since Season 10 until tonight. The night is done for Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer and The Invincible Iron Man, who both go home empty-handed. Captain America, meanwhile, has struck out in its two chances, with two more categories coming up.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
The Deadliest Night in Show Business is off to a good start tonight, winning in its first of five chances. This marks the 6th Best Ensemble Cast GRA trophy for writer Chad Taylor and the second win for his co-writer Andrew Doster. Every film in this category still has multiple chances to add more awards tonight.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Believe it or not, this is the first Best Starring Couple GRA trophy for Leonardo DiCaprio after two previous nominations in the category. This is Matilda De Angelis' first GRA trophy in any category in just her second LRF appearance. Despite the pedigree of the collaborations between Chad Taylor and John Malone, this is actually the first time they've teamed up to win Best Starring Couple. Caesar Part III led the night with 11 nominations, but is now finally winning its first award on the night - it still has eight more chances though.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
This is the first individual Golden Reel Award for Will Poulter (he previously won in the Best Ensemble Cast category for Broadway in Season 22). It is also the first time that the Julius Caesar Trilogy has won in the Best Villain category. Caesar Part III now has the lead over other films in the ceremony, becoming the first film with multiple GRA trophies to its name.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Green Lantern Corps: Sinestro War has now tied Caesar Part III with two GRA trophies on the evening. The film only has a couple more chances to win tonight though, while Caesar Part III still has several more nominations left. The night is now done for Among Us and Captain America, with both films going home empty handed. The Terminal Spy has one more shot with Barry Keoghan's Best Actor nomination.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Caesar Part III continues its winning evening with a third trophy to its name. The previous films in the Julius Caesar Trilogy also won this award, making the series 3-for-3. The film will now try to go 3-for-3 in the Best Actor and Best Picture categories later tonight (and 2-for-3 in the Best Director category).
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Margaret Qualley now has her second acting GRA trophy after previously winning for Observance back in Season 20. It is the second win for Miracles, which is still nominated in four of the final five categories of the night. Death of a Comic continues to miss on awards, going 0-for-3 on the night so far (with three chances left).
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Paki wins its first award of the night with Best Supporting Actor. Riz Ahmed wins the trophy in just his second appearance in LRF (and his first since Season 1). Despite coming in the ceremony with 11 nominations, Caesar Part III is struggling a bit, winning three trophies out of eight chances so far. Michael Keaton's loss here also continues Death of a Comic's winless night.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Victoria Pedretti continues the trend of femme fatales winning Best Actress (following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Sydney Sweeney) after losing out on Best Villain and Best Starring Couple (with co-star Jacob Elordi). Paki ends its evening now with one win out of three nominations. Amanda Seyfried misses out on the Best Actress trophy again after failing to win for her nomination in Season 2 for Siren. This is also now the first GRA trophy for writer Jacob Jones, who finally wins one after 16 nominations.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Leonardo DiCaprio is now 3-for-3 as Best Actor for the three films of the Julius Caesar Trilogy. This is his 5th win overall in the category, winning for Blackwater (Season 2) and Calamity (Season 9) prior to his work as Caesar, easily giving him the all-time record for the award. The Terminal Spy will go home from the ceremony empty handed, while Caesar now has four wins tonight with two categories to go as the film has slowly started to run away with the awards.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Christopher Nolan has now won his 4th Golden Reel Award for Best Director. He now holds the all-time record after overtaking Nicolas Winding Refn, who also had three. Nolan won the award for two of the three Caesar films. The night is over for Death of a Comic, striking out in all of its six nominations. This is trophy number five for Caesar Part III tonight, making it the top award winner in the Julius Caesar Trilogy.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO....
Caesar Part III completes the trifecta, with each film in the winning Best Picture in their respective seasons - an unprecedented feat. This is the 10th Best Picture GRA for writer John Malones and the 9th for his co-writer Chad Taylor. Not only did Caesar Part III finish this season with the most GRA trophies (6), but it also ties the second most trophies all-time (with Judas Iscariot - also penned by Malone). Only The Prisoner (also penned by Malone) has more with seven.
