Round 4 saw the latest DC Comics Universe production, and you know, a couple of other films. Here's The Roundup....
3. Samara Weaving
The beautiful Samara Weaving has paid her dues in supporting roles for many seasons before finally getting her first leading LRF role. She earned it and makes the most of her role in Vampire. I expect to see more leading roles from her in upcoming seasons.
2. Starman
Starman works on a couple different levels. It is a fairly faithful adaptation of the acclaimed comic series with a good cast and some decent action. It also works as a 1990s nostalgia piece for 30 and 40 somethings.
1. Joe Keery
Joe Keery is an actor who has been patiently waiting for a good star vehicle and he finally has it with Starman. It's not a perfect superhero film, but Keery absolutely nails the main character, giving a fun and charming performance.
3. My Sister
I struggled to relate to the characters in My Sister. Gabrielle and Erivo did not feel like sisters at all. Despite the film's African setting, the world was not painted with much clarity or specificity. Based on the story, I think it should have been better than it turned out as the script isn't terrible, but a bit lacking in those aforementioned areas.
2. Vampire
The tone of this one always felt a bit too awkward to me. Samara Weaving is decent in the leading role, but the other actors all seemed like they were in a different movie.
1. DC Comics Universe
Are LRF's writers running out of DC Comics content? With just one DC Comics Universe production due out this season, it will be the first season with less than two DC films since Season 6.
