Welcome to the 15th Official Last Resort Films Comic-Con! This season, we have exclusive news and behind-the-scenes information on six upcoming LRF releases for Season 31....
Round 1 - Vindicators
Season 31 kicks off with the first of two original superhero films, Vindicators. We already know that the film hails from director Graham Moore (The Outfit) and writer Jimmy Ellis (Eve of Destruction, Brothers in Law). The film will reportedly tell the story of a private detective, played by Mark Wahlberg (Triple Identity, Cocaine Cowboys), investigating the murder of a famed superhero. For the Comic-Con panel of this soon-to-be-released film, we have a first look at the film's final poster.
Round 2 - Ocean Pawn
The other original superhero film in Season 31 will come quickly after in Round 2. This one will be an underwater fantasy superhero epic from director Steven S. DeKnight (Pacific Rim: Uprising) and writer Jack Ryder (Amnesiac, The ComeBack). For this Comic-Con panel, the filmmakers have released some concept art for the project, featuring some of the considered designs for a few of the characters.
Round 4 - Ghost Rider: Damnation
We finally have our first exclusive casting announcements of the convention, with Greta Lee ("The Morning Show", Past Lives) and Thomas Jane (Amnesiac, El Dorado) signing on to the cast of Ghost Rider: Damnation, the second Marvel Universe film to feature Danny Ketch / Ghost Rider (Aaron Paul). Lee will play Jezebel, the daughter of Mephisto (David Duchovny), while Jane will play Noble Kale, a mentor figure to Ketch.
Round 8 - Gamera
Famed kaiju are finally coming to Last Resort Films with a big budget reboot of Gamera, the film series depicting a giant, prehistoric turtle kaiju. As the first blockbuster film to feature the character, it has started its casting process with two acclaimed and dependable actors who are here for today's festivities - David Harbour (El Dorado, Doctor Love) and Hiroyuki Sanada (Among Us, OZ). No word yet on their roles or the director, but the film has been confirmed to be the debut of writer Nic Suzuki.
Round 9 - Black Widow x Hawkeye
One of the next major films leading up to the first major Marvel Universe event film, The Avengers, due out in Season 32, is expected to by Black Widow x Hawkeye. The film will reportedly continue SHIELD's influence on LRF's MU. The film is still in pre-production, but we do have an early look at the poster for the film - complete with the two stars tapped to play the title roles. Mila Kunis (Free Spirit, Believe It or Not!) has been cast as Natasha Romanova aka Black Widow, a Russian spy working for the Red Room organization. Meanwhile, Boyd Holbrook (Last Days of the American Cowboy, Death in the Shadows) has been cast as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, a top operative for SHIELD.
Round 10 - Justice League War
The second part of the third Justice League film has already been in production for some time, being shot back-to-back with its predecessor, Justice League Invasion. Most of the cast and crew can already be assumed based on part one of the epic film, but one major addition has been made for part two - Glenn Close (Haunted, Long Time) has signed on to the film, playing the role of Granny Goodness. She will be a loyal follower of Darkseid (Giancarlo Esposito), who will continue his quest to complete the Anti-Life Equation.
