Top 10 Surprises of Season 32

Sherman J. Pearson here with another post-season Top 10 segment covering some of the biggest and most shocking events in LRF's 32nd season.

Top 10 Surprises of Season 32
10. Red Lantern Corps
I didn't know much about the characters going in - aside from the events of Green Lantern Corps: Sinestro War - but I was impressed by how APJ and Ellis managed to infuse these new characters and build off where the GLC films left off.

9. Sadie Sink
Sadie Sink has arguably become the most bankable leading lady in LRF today. I don't picture a film like An Irish Rendezvous making nearly as much money as it did without her growing star power.

8. Clive Steinbeck
After 22 seasons away, Clive Steinbeck made his return. Bigfoot was decent, but the bigger surprise is Clive's return.

7. Joshua Collins
He wasn't away for 22 seasons, but he was out of the picture for a few seasons. The bigger surprise though was that he came back with two films very much different than his usual output - with a few GRA nominations as the cherry on top.

6. Taylor Swift
She gave an impressive starring debut as Joni Mitchell in Songbird. Could this be the start of an acting career for the pop star?

5. Escape
Escape impressed with four individual acting nominations and great reviews. I guess none of that is really all that surprising with David Fincher and Lon Charles behind the scenes after all.

4. Gargoyles
It is always a big surprise when a film gets a sequel 25 seasons after the first film. It is also welcome.

3. Monopoly
I don't think anyone knew what the hell to expect from a Monopoly film - so really any film at all would be a surprise. But I certainly didn't expect to be as entertained as I was.

2. The Avengers
The Avengers stuck the landing, finally resolving the Galactus saga 29 seasons after introducing the big bad. Is this the start of a new Marvel team-up franchise, or is this a one-off? Only time will tell.

1. Walton Goggins
Goggins has climbed the mountain from quirky character actor to bonafide over many seasons (and years in real life), to find himself with two GRA trophies in one year and a new DC role.
