Welcome to the 4th Official Last Resort Films Comic-Con! This season, we have exclusive news and behind-the-scenes information on four upcoming LRF releases for Season 19....
Round 4 - X-Men: The Cure
While the cast of the sequel to X-Men is bound to have some returning cast members along with director Alex Garland (X-Men, Mass Effect: First Contact) and writer Dwight Gallo (At the Mountains of Madness, Cocaine Cowboys) returning, the first confirmed cast member of the film will be John Travolta (AGOS: A Game of Survival, The Fanatic). Travolta will play William Stryker, a former US Army Colonel leading the charge to "cure" mutant-kind.
Round 6 - Plastic Man 2: Electric Boogaloo
The long-awaited sequel to Plastic Man will finally be hitting theaters in Season 20. And yes, Plastic Man 2: Electric Boogaloo is really the title, though only time will tell if the film features any break dancing numbers. While we don't any casting news, it is expected that Glenn Howerton (Alien: Out of the Shadows, No Laughing Matter), Elisabeth Moss (Sleeping Beauties, Bad Dreams Come True) and Dan Fogler (The Cape, Plastic Man) will all be back in the cast with writer APJ (Urban Cowboy, Green Lantern Corps) and director Rawson Thurber Marshall (Plastic Man, Skyscraper) also returning. With all that said, we do have a first look at a poster for the film.
Round 8 - Gambit: District X
Season 20 is set to be a busy season for the LRF X-Men Universe, with a sequel to Gambit and Rogue also due out. Director Jim Mickle (Cold in July, In the Shadow of the Moon) is set to make his LRF debut on the project, helming the film from a script once again by Chad Taylor (Kansas City, Spider-Man). Garrett Hedlund (Gambit and Rogue, The Devil's Revenge) is obviously set to return in the title role, with this film also set to feature the live-action debut of Mr. Sinister. Andrew Scott (The Killings, Less) has signed a multi-film contract to appear as the character.
Round 9 - Y: The Last Man - Part 2
Yet another sequel is set for Season 20, this one to the GRA-winning adaptation of the Vertigo Comics series, Y: The Last Man. All of the principal players are expected to be back, including director Ana Lily Amirpour (Y: The Last Man, The Bad Batch) and writer Matt Parker (The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, Coma). Here is a look at star Jack Reynor (Coma, The Fantastic Four) and his monkey co-star, Ampersand, on the poster of the film.
That's not all though, as we also have a track from the soundtrack of the film (the first film won the Best Soundtrack GRA at the 14th Golden Reel Awards)...
"Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)" - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Round 10 - Justice League Unlimited
And finally, we have a bit of casting news for the highly anticipated second Justice League team-up film, Justice League Unlimited. The exact team lineup or villain for the film hasn't been revealed, but we do know that at least one hero from the first film will be sitting this one out: Billy Magnussen's Booster Gold. However, with that announcement was also the news that one of Magnussen's Booster Gold: Lost in Time co-stars would be taking part in the proceedings instead. Dan Stevens (Klondike, Elysian) is going to have one busy Season 20 - as soon as he's done filming his upcoming debut as James Bond, he will join the production of Justice League Unlimited as Rip Hunter.
