Welcome to the 13th Official Last Resort Films Comic-Con! This season, we have exclusive news and behind-the-scenes information on six upcoming LRF releases for Season 29....
Round 1 - Moon Knight
Season 29 will kick off with a new Marvel Universe production, Moon Knight. We already know the film hails from director Denis Villeneuve (Carte Blanche, Detroit: Become Human) and writers Jimmy Ellis (Thorne, Task Force X: Jungleland) and Mark Newton (Gears of War 2, Pompeii) in their first collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio (Caesar Part III, E.P.) playing the title role. For the Comic-Con panel of this soon-to-be-released film, we have a first look at the film's poster as well as a song from its soundtrack.
Round 2 - The Tomb of Dracula
Nick Fury and His Howling Commandos introduced vampires into LRF's Marvel Universe last season and now that will continue with a film based on the Marvel Comics series, The Tomb of Dracula. For Comic-Con we have the announcement of the film's two stars: Jeremy Allen White (Knievel, American Idiot) and Antony Starr (Blue Ridge, Run). Starr will play Dracula while White will play his descendant Frank Drake who inherits his castle.
Round 3 - The Shadow
Pulp novel and comics hero The Shadow is set to return to the big screen after nearly 30 years. The film was penned by rookie writer Diane Esposito. For the title role, Henry Cavill (Mass Effect 3 - Part 2, Paradise Lost) has been cast as Lamont Cranston / The Shadow in his long awaited return since the end of the Mass Effect franchise.
Round 4 - Starman
The DC Comics Universe is only set to feature one film in Season 29, a film based on the 1990s Starman comic series. Starring in the title role will be Joe Keery (House Without End, "Stranger Things"), who has been secretly attached to role for multiple seasons now, turning down other superhero film opportunities in the process. For the panel today, we have an early look at the film's poster.
Round 9 - The Crow: Midnight Garden
The Crow returns to LRF in Season 29, this time with a new writer and a new iteration of the title character. Jack Brown (Amityville, We Know Where You Live) takes over from Jacob Jones as a writer on the franchise. Each film in the franchise has had a different character take on the Crow mantle, with Sophie Thatcher ("Yellowjackets", The Boogeyman) taking over in this one.
Round 10 - Spider-Man: Requiem
For its third film, LRF's Spider-Man series is adding a heavy hitter in the form of Javier Bardem (L.A. Rex, The Wolfman). He will play scientist Dr. Otto Octavius, who of course eventually becomes the villain Dr. Octopus. No word yet on whether he will play a villainous role in this one, but it will reportedly be a decent-sized supporting role at the very least with options for future sequels. All the regulars, such as stars like Lucas Hedges, Elle Fanning, Matthew McConaughey, writers Chad Taylor and D.R. Cobb, and director Damien Chazelle, are expected to return for this one.
