Welcome to the 12th Official Last Resort Films Comic-Con! This season, we have exclusive news and behind-the-scenes information on six upcoming LRF releases for Season 28....
Round 1 - Task Force X: Jungleland
The first comic book film of Season 28 will also be the debut release of the season. We already know the bulk of the cast for the film and that Guy Ritchie (Paki, Task Force X: Chaos and Madness) is once again set to direct this third film in the Task Force X series. So for this Comic-Con panel, we have an early look at the final poster for the film.
Round 3 - Red Wolf: Wanderer
With the surprise success and acclaim of the Marvel Universe Native American action film Red Wolf back in Season 21, it was only a matter of time for a sequel. Billy Bob Thornton won the Best Villain GRA trophy for his role in that film, leaving big shoes to fill for the villain(s) of the sequel. That task has been assigned to Jeremy Strong (Fractured, "Succession) and Kristen Bell (Numero Uno, American Psycho the Musical). They will play siblings - Jack and Sonja Day - that are a reimagining of the Marvel Comics character Jackson Day / The Corrupter. Tatanka Means (Red Wolf, Pocahontas) is seemingly set to reprise the title role, but not much else is known about the film.
Round 4 - The Spectre
In a surprise DC Comics Universe announcement, Nicolas Cage (Tomato Can, Carpenter) has been cast in the title role of a film based on the supernatural hero, The Spectre. Cage will play Jim Corrigan, a murdered police detective given supernatural abilities to get revenge. No word yet on a director, but we do know that the film was written by John Malone (Namor the Sub-Mariner: Imperius Rex, Carte Blanche).
Round 5 - The Immortal Iron Fist
In another major hero casting announcement, Australian heart-throb Luke Bracey (Missing Men, Maybe I Do) has been cast as Danny Rand / Iron Fist in a film adaptation. Like Luke Cage: Power Man, the film will be set in the 1970s. Along with the casting announcement, we have a look at some of the poster artwork that Bracey is posing in front of. Also like Luke Cage: Power Man, the film hails from writers Jimmy Ellis & Dwight Gallo (Particle, Territory).
Round 6 - Nick Fury and His Howling Commandos
Jay Ellis (Top Gun: Maverick, "Insecure") has reportedly beaten out several other up-and-coming actors for the role of a young Nick Fury (played by Denzel Washington in The Invincible Iron Man) in a prequel film covering Fury's days with his famed military group - Nick Fury and His Howling Commandos. Decades after turning down the job of directing Spider-Man for Sony, Roland Emmerich (Blood in the Water, Moonfall) is also on hand for today's Comic-Con having signed on to direct the film.
Round 10 - Superman: Exile
Hot off his Best Villain GRA nomination for Pompeii, Eric Bana (Pompeii, The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands) has been cast in a mystery role in the third Superman film from director Jeff Nichols (Judas Iscariot, The Void) and writer John Malone (Namor the Sub-Mariner: Imperius Rex, Carte Blanche) - Superman: Exile. While we don't know who Bana will play yet, we do have a look at the film's poster in addition to the announcement of Bana's addition to the cast.
And that's a wrap on the Season 28 LRF Comic-Con! Season 28 will begin on October 23rd.
