American Outlaws: Bryan Cranston (Gorky Park, Blood Meridian) and Margo Martindale (August: Osage County, "Justified") have joined the already impressive cast of American Outlaws, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and written by Seth Overton. Cranston will play an architect turned robber, while Martindale will play a criminal figure and fence for criminals.
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow: Mark Strong (The Fountainhead, XIII) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Prisoner, Miss Sloane) will join the espionage exploits in the sequel to worldwide hit Splinter Cell. Strong (The Fountainhead, XIII) will play a former friend and comrade of Sam Fisher's (Tom Cruise) who now runs a private military organization, while Mbatha-Raw will play a CIA case officer and translator. Joe Carnahan directs from a D.R. Cobb script.
Bride of Frankenstein: Imogen Poots (Flicker, Birth of Frankenstein) and Geoffrey Rush (Birth of Frankenstein, Gods of Egypt) will reprise their roles from Birth of Frankenstein. Poots plays Dr. Frankenstein's wife and Rush will play his mentor Dr. Pretorius. Mark Romanek (Every Secret Thing, Never Let Me Go) directs this installment.
Green Arrow: Rounding out the cast of the studio's latest superhero entry, Green Arrow, will be Ray Stevenson (Divergent, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, American Assassin) and Q'orianka Kilcher (Hostiles, The Vault). Stevenson will portray Hackett, Oliver Queen's (Armie Hammer) business manager, Adkins will play the assassin Constantine Drakon, and Kilcher has been cast as an island native who helps Queen after he is shipwrecked on an island. Wes Ball directs from an APJ script.
Nation's Pride: Last Resort Films have picked up the screenplay Nation's Pride from writer Harry Wright. The story will depict the war explots of New Zealand WWII hero Charles Upham. The film will curiously star Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok, 12 Strong) and Liam Hemsworth (Independence Day: Resurgence, Cut Bank) as the same character a year apart. Martin Campbell (Green Lantern, The Foreigner) has signed on to direct the film.
Cat People: Before getting to work on the sequel to The Question, Nicolas Winding Refn (The Question, The Neon Demon) has decided to direct a second remake of the film Cat People. His film is said to skew more towards Paul Schrader's 1980s remake than the original film. In a risky move, the auteur director has cast Hungarian model Barbara Palvin (Hercules) in the lead role.
