Red Sonja: Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel, Bird Box), Mark Addy ("Game of Thrones", Downton Abbey), Max Irons (Cold, Metal Gear Solid 2) and Sadie Sink ("Stranger Things", Eli) will round out the cast of the upcoming fantasy film, Red Sonja. Salazar will play a woman Sonja meets while imprisoned by a depraved Duke, who will be played by Addy. Irons will play Sonja's fiance, and Sink will play a young Sonja. Lexi Alexander is directing from a script by Roy Horne.
Aliens vs Predator: The First Hunt: The alien species of Fede Alvarez's latest film will have more potential victims in the form of Josh Stewart (Prey, The Creature: The Beginning), Gabriel Bateman (Buried Memories, "Hitman") and Derek Luke (Splinter Cell: Blacklist, "13 Reasons Why"). Luke will play Tessa Thompson's husband, Stewart will play a security chief, while Bateman will play a resident of the colony the film is set in. Carl Flimmer penned the film based on the Dark Horse Comics series.
Germinal: Gaspard Ulliel (Saint Laurent, It's Only the End of the World), Rade Serbedzija (God of War: Kratos, Easy Money), Toby Jones (Skyrim II: Dragonborn, Solution) and Gerard Depardieu ("Marseille", Tour de France) have all joined the upcoming adaptation of the French novel, Germinal. The film tells the story of a small town in France and how it is affected by a strike at the local coal mine. Jean-Luc Goddard is directing the film from a script by Mo Buck.
Black Lightning: Following the character's debut in Vixen: The Totems of Zambesi, Black Lightning, played by Trevante Rhodes (Vixen: The Totems of Zambesi, Runaway) will headline his own film which will take him from the African savannas of Vixen to the urban streets of Brick City. Also starring in the film will be Janelle Monae (Harriet, Welcome to Marwen) and Thomas Haden Church ("Divorce", The Peanut Butter Falcon). Monae will play Rhodes' wife, while Church will be the hero's mentor. Steven Caple Jr. (Vixen: The Totems of Zambesi, Creed II) will direct from a script by Jimmy Ellis (The Devil's Passage, Genetic Descent).
Zombielove: For the first time since Akira in Season 2, Dylan O'Brien (Akira, American Assassin) has been tapped to star in a film for Last Resort Films. O'Brien will play a young man looking for love amidst a zombie apocalypse. Maika Monroe (Salem's Lot, American Dream) will play a young woman that he meets on his journey. Marc Webb (Nobody, The Only Living Boy in New York) has been hired to direct the film, based on an original script by Giovanni Garcia (The Mask, Dragon Ball: The Wrath of the Demon King).
The Refugee: Undeterred by the repeated box office failure of his starring vehicles, Liam Hemsworth (Unknown, Alternative) has been cast in the lead role in a new sci-fi fantasy film from director Martin Campbell (Nation's Pride, The Foreigner) and writer Meirad Tako (What I Need To Do Is Survive, Crazy Little Thing Called Love). Hemsworth will play a young man who may or may not be the heir to the throne of the land of Halott. Hemsworth will be joined by Cillian Murphy (To the Other Side, A Little Life) in an undisclosed supporting role.
