Reaction: The always risky original superhero film did not work at the box office this time around. The big cast was not cheap to assemble and it is hard to turn a profit with an original story with a budget of $100 million or more.

"Vindicators is a bold but uneven dive into a murky world of superhero politics and corporate greed. The film features some sharp visuals, but Jimmy Ellis' script tries to do too much at times, and the pacing of the story suffers as a result. Mark Wahlberg was entertaining as the star, although his role leans a bit too hard into noir detective tropes. While not entirely original, Vindicators does provide enough twists to keep audiences engaged." - Dave Cone, New York Post

"Vindicators tries to join the ranks of gritty superhero deconstructions but ends up feeling more like a rehash of better, more daring works like Watchmen and The Boys. The story struggles under the weight of its over abundance of characters, excessive runtime and narrative bloat. Mark Wahlberg and Gillian Jacobs give the film's standout performances, but even they can't save a story that feels more exhausting than engaging." - Eric Marsh, Denver Post

"The film Vindicators tries to offer something new to the superhero genre and I liked the investigation angle from Mark Wahlberg's character. But, its excessive length makes it drag on and the film became more all over the place in terms of genre and tone as it went along, causing me to lose interest long before it concluded." - Jonah Wells, Indiewire

Rated R for strong violence, language, sexual content, and drug use
