In Development

Scion 2: Saoirse Ronan will officially have some female company in the sequel to the sci-fi hit, Scion. Vera Farmiga (Rasputin, The Commuter), Liv Tyler (Wilding, "The Leftovers") and Kelsey Asbille (Wind River, "Yellowstone") have all joined the film. Farmiga will play the wife of Chiwetel Ejiofor's Creon, Asbille will play an Agoran social climber, while Tyler's role is being kept a secret by the filmmakers. Jeff Nichols is directing from a script by the duo of John Malone and Chad Taylor.

Asylum: Neil Burger's YA mystery adaptation has added Ryan Lee (Speech & Debate, Goosebumps), Barry Keoghan (Bonnie and Clyde, American Animals) and Ryan Potter (Eleanor & Park, "Titans") to its cast. They will all play students at a college prep program set at a mysterious campus. T.F.W. Hallowayne wrote the script.

Burial Rites: Jennifer Lawrence (Triangle, Red Sparrow) is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of Hannah Kent's novel Burial Rites. Lawrence will play an Icelandic woman condemned to death after the murder of two men. Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome, Lore) has been hired to direct the film, while newcomer Willem Mainwright penned the adaptation

Alternative: Hot off his appearance in the acclaimed October Crisis, Nicholas Hoult (October Crisis, The Prisoner) has been cast in the upcoming Biblical-themed fantasy film, Alternative, from writer Meirad Tako (The Story of the Assassin, Stan) and director Tim Burton (Big Eyes, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children), who making his first film for the studio. Liam Hemsworth (Road Rash, Nation's Pride) and Willem Dafoe (Heart of Stone, V) are also set for the film which will tell the story of God deciding to restart the Earth, and four of his creations vying to rule the land. Hoult and Hemsworth will play two of God's creations vying for the position, while Dafoe will provide the voice of God himself.

Mandingos: Daniel Kaluuya (Alien: Isolation, Shake Hands with the Devil), Anthony Mackie (Every Secret Thing, Avengers: Infinity War), Jeremy Irons (Heart of Stone, And Then There Were None) and Christoph Waltz (Death and All His Friends, Captain Atom) have all signed on to the upcoming drama from director Steve McQueen (Widows, 12 Years a Slave) and writer Mo Buck (Captain Atom, Runaway). Kaluuya and Mackie will play slaves forced by their owners to be fighting "mandingos", while Waltz and Irons will play their owners.

Rachel Rising: Writer H.G. Hansen (Maximum Ride, Eleanor & Park) has set an adaptation of the comic series Rachel Rising as his next project with Karyn Kusama (The Invitation, Jennifer's Body). Evan Rachel Wood (Runaway, Reality) is set to headline the film as Rachel, a woman who sets out to solve her own attempted murder. Emmy Rossum (Booster Gold II: The Booster Gold Story, The Creature) is set to play her best friend, while Annette Bening (20th Century Women, Purgatorio) is set to play her mortician aunt.
