Reaction: While on the lower end of the box office spectrum for the studio's DC Comics Universe, the numbers on their own indicate a fairly successful film. Jon Hamm has a pretty poor box office track record as a leading man, but this film thankfully managed to overcome that hurdle in theaters.
"While I didn't love Captain Atom - there are sections that drag and Hamm seems too old for an origin story - Matthew Vaughn's latest superhero film is a solid entry in the genre with some strong action that should leave audiences pleased (especially that post-credits stinger...)." - Clark Davis, JoBlo.com
"After the villain shortcomings of the studio's last few DC entries, a villain like David Morse's General Eiling is a breath of fresh air. Morse's quiet intensity is put to great use in this one." - Lisa Winger, Newsday
"Jon Hamm comes across as a bit too bland to stand out among the other more colorful heroes of the DC Comics Universe set up at Last Resort Films. Sure, he's handsome and charming, but he doesn't seem to bring much else to his (non-comedic) performances. Other DC heroes like Green Arrow and The Question come across as more multi-dimensional than Hamm's Captain Atom does here." - Ben Fullmer, Knoxville News Sentinel
