LRF NOW Season 17 Power Rankings

10. Director's Cut: Drugstore Perfume
Writer/Director Alex Conn didn't make many changes to this one. He removed a few details that critics didn't like, but it still feels exactly the same even without the infamous wet dream scene. This one just felt like a double-dip to me without any notable improvements made.

9. Original Film: A Little Crow Girl
Not terrible, but it didn't seem to have a set audience in mind.

8. Original Film: Curtains
A good old fashioned slasher film made by filmmakers who play well in the genre conventions with this remake.

7. Original Film: Final Girls
The two leads were well-cast in this decent little thriller.

6. Original Film: Until Dawn
The main group of young actors work well together in this video game adaptation. Director Zak Hilditch definitely seems to be a filmmaker on the rise.

5. Writer's Commentary: Cascade
Not the film I would have selected for Chad Taylor to do a commentary on personally, but he gives plenty of interesting behind-the-scenes details to keep the commentary entertaining.

4. Original Film: The Firefighter
My favorite LRF Original Film of the season. Stephen Amell is clearly having a great time as the title character. The film felt like a true throwback to the 80s and 90s thrillers.

3. Writer's Commentary: The Temptations
Lon Charles gives a lot of good information behind the choices made in the making of this musical biopic. I loved the music in the film, and the commentary goes into detail on some of the musical choices made.

2. Writer's Commentary: Blackwater
Blackwater has long been a favorite film of mine, so Dwight Gallo's commentary was certainly welcome.

1. Director's Cut: Creature from the Black Lagoon
This director's cut of the Season 1 hit monster film felt a lot more exciting than the theatrical cut, and it was already a good film.
