Reaction: Outstanding numbers for the big screen debut of Namor the Sub-Mariner! The film was certainly expensive and Alden Ehrenreich has not starred in many movies of this magnitude, but this goes to show that his star power is legitimate.
"The latest collaboration between writer John Malone and star Alden Ehrenreich is certainly a sight. While most of the studio's Marvel Universe films have leaned toward a smaller scale, this sea-bound adventure eschews that and offers up larges doses of action and melodrama." - Matthew Ellis, USA Today
"Namor the Sub-Mariner avoids most of the more cliched choices featured in modern action/superhero films, instead opting for some bolder, braver alternatives. Not all of these choices work, but enough do to make the film stand out in a crowded genre." - Ben Mazur, SciFiNow
"This film rests squarely on the shoulders of Alden Ehrenreich, as both a talented performer and a rising star. He once again shows why he is one of the most demanded actors for the studio, giving an energetic performance and somehow managing to pull off some of the trickier aspects of the film (an amnesiac Atlantean superhero?). As far as the plot itself goes, not every plot thread gets its due, but I was certainly not bored or confused by the events of the film." - Janet Donnelly, Empire Magazine
Rated PG-13 for fantasy action and thematic material
