LRF COMIC-CON (Season 23)

 

Welcome to the 7th Official Last Resort Films Comic-Con! This season, we have exclusive news and behind-the-scenes information on four upcoming LRF releases for Season 23....


Round 1 - Grayson
Closing out the opening round of Season 23 will be the Bat-spinoff, Grayson, featuring Batman's sidekick Dick Grayson / Robin (Taron Egerton) trying to make it as his own hero for a change. The DC Comics Universe film is being directed by the filmmaking duo Daniels (Everything All At Once, Swiss Army Man) based on a script by Jimmy Ellis (Extra Ordinary, Who Watches the Watchmen). As a Comic-Con exclusive, we have a first look at the official poster for the film (credits included since it's so close to release).

Round 2 - RoboCop Versus The Terminator
The second round of Season 23 will feature an adaptation of the cult comic miniseries, RoboCop Versus The Terminator, created by Frank Miller. The adaptation was written by Joshua Collins (EarthBound, Gigantor). It was already announced that Patrick Wilson (Mortal Kombat II, Sinatra) will play the title role of RoboCop / Alex Murphy in the film helmed by Robert Rodriguez (Road Rash, Stray Dogs), and now we have our first look at Wilson in the classic RoboCop suit.

Round 3 - Silver Sable
Diane Kruger (Cape Torment, The Child Martyr) made a memorable debut as Silver Sable last season in The Black Cat Strikes Again! and now she will be getting her own solo film due out in Round 3 as the first of three Marvel Universe productions due out in Season 23. The film will be directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven (Kings, Mustang), written by Jimmy Ellis (Extra Ordinary, Who Watches the Watchmen) and produced by Chad Taylor. For the Comic-Con festivities we have an early look at the film's poster featuring Kruger in the title role.

Round 4 - Task Force X: Chaos and Madness
Writer Jimmy Ellis (Who Watches the Watchmen, Extra Ordinary) will have a busy Season 23 filled with comic book fare. His third comic adaptation of the season will be a sequel to his Season 19 hit, Task Force X. Along with director Guy Ritchie (Pulp, Task Force X) returning, several cast members will be returning from the first film. One new face though will be Josh Lucas (The Forever Purge, Ford v. Ferrari) making the live action debut of the character Unknown Soldier.

Round 6 - Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six
Lucas Hedges (Spider-Man, Kansas City) will be back as Spider-Man in Round 6 of Season 23, this time to take on a team of supervillains. The same creative team is behind this sequel: director Damien Chazelle (Oklahoma!, Spider-Man) and writers D.R. Cobb (Wonder Woman, Constantine: The Hellblazer) and Chad Taylor (Broadway, The Black Cat Strikes Again!). One new face that won't be playing a villain in this film will be Zoey Deutch (The Water Cure, Oklahoma!), who has signed on to play the role of Mary Jane Watson in the film.

Round 9 - Booster Gold: Back in Time
One of the most anticipated films of Season 23 has to be the (hopefully) triumphant return of Billy Magnussen (Free Spirit, Kazaria) as the time-traveling DC Comics Universe superhero Booster Gold for the first time since Season 12. There aren't a lot of details released on the film as of yet outside of the film once again being written by Chad Taylor (Broadway, The Black Cat Strikes Again!), but we do have an early look at the poster and a song from the film's soundtrack.
