The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 22 Round 10)

That's officially a wrap on the exciting 22nd season of Last Resort Films. Here's the season's final edition The Roundup....

3. Box Office
This round turned things around big time for this season's box office thanks to the massive numbers from Batman 4.

2. Black Hole
My favorite film of the round, and possibly of the season (it's right up there with Caesar Part II). I wasn't sure about some of the casting going into this one, but by the end I completely bought all of the actors/actresses as their characters. The soundtrack also instantly became the front runner for the Best Soundtrack GRA in my opinion as it really helped transport you to the time period the story appears to be set in.

1. Batman: In The Shadows
Not only was this Batman film my favorite of the series, it was also the highest grossing of the franchise and the season (which is why it takes the top spot over Black Hole). I was especially impressed with how APJ utilized the new characters to the franchise, with Mortensen, Exarchopoulos, Rock and Jones all delivering memorable performances.

3. The Life After
I honestly still am not sure exactly what to make of The Life After. The ending was memorable, but I didn't particularly care for the casting and the first 2/3 of the film was not particularly exciting or entertaining to me.

2. Profits
Despite the total box office being up 30% from last season, the studio actually made slightly less of a profit in Season 22 than Season 21. I was actually surprised to learn this, but the math is all there on the Box Office page.

1. Box Office Poison
Some new contenders for the biggest box office poison talents emerged this season: Steve Carell (1/6 profitable films total), Cate Blanchett (3 straight box office bombs, including 2 this season), Timothee Chalamet (5 of his last 6 films have failed to turn a profit) and Denzel Washington (2/3 total films have bombed at the box office).
