Reaction: Thankfully Eye of the Scarecrow has thankfully managed to make a profit, becoming the first profitable film of Season 26. The season is obviously still in the red, but at least it is a step in the right direction financially.
"An intriguing concept, however, I feel as though every actor in this film is wasted. It does not feel like a film that would attract the likes of Florence Pugh, Logan Lerman and John Lithgow. As I said the premise was interesting enough but I feel as though Carl Flimmer did nothing with it to warrant the film being made." - Jonah Wells, IndieWire
"As much as the premise is entertaining and an engrossing prologue try to glue it together, the script isn't enough as Aja's common lust for gore overtook him with this one. If there was enough to even relate with the cast, the film just isn't complete to say anything other than a throwaway rental." - Tullia Seward, Slate
"Eye of the Scarecrow is a forgettable horror entry that sorely lacking in genuine scares. The film takes a while to get going, and even once it does it then gets repetitive. The kills may be bloody, but they didn't feel inventive enough tp keep this film out of the bargain bin. The film managed to attract a talented cast, but they are unable to wring much out of their underwritten characters." - - Paul Landon, Film School Rejects
Rated R for graphic violence and frightening imagery
