The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 34 Round 8)

With eight rounds done, there are just two more to go in Season 34. Here's The Roundup....

3. Box Office
All three releases this round managed to turn profits - Round 5 was the only other time this season that has happened.

2. The Crow: Yomi
This one sounded a bit odd on paper, but it all really pulled together. It features some crazy juxtaposition of beautiful and brutal imagery. I'm sure if I thought too much about this one, I'd start picking holes in it, but through one viewing it is a haunting new entry in the Crow series. I'm curious what will come next in the series.

1. Full Custody
We don't get a lot of comedy from writer John Malone, but every once in a while he seems to like to remind everyone that he can write in that genre as well. Full Custody was funny and surprisingly heartfelt.

3. N/A

2. Box Office
While it's nice that all three films made profits - there wasn't a true blockbuster hit among them. Next round is looking just as dicey on that front.

1. Tears of an Angel
For a story almost exclusively revolving around just two characters, there was zero need for this one to drag on so long. While the two lead performers - Elle Fanning and George MacKay - are good together, the excessive running time and unnecessarily meandering plot make them overstay their welcome.
