The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 13 Round 9)

27 films down, 3 films to go on Season 13, so here's The Roundup....

3. Someone Else
I enjoyed Someone Else. The character interactions were fun and the film was well-cast with Adrien Brody and Michael Stuhlbarg welcome choices in the lead roles.

2. Mass Effect 3 - Part 2

Talk about an epic film. The spectacle on display was huge - Justice League International levels of huge - yet it still had smaller more intimate moments.

1. Seth Overton
Throughout the Mass Effect series, the writer Seth Overton somehow managed to keep them all feeling different despite the shared source material. Even the two parts of Mass Effect Part 3 had their own unique feels.

3. Soundtracks
I guess I could also call this the Lack of Soundtracks. Heading into the final round of the season, there have only been three soundtracks released, which would mean no Best Soundtrack category at the Golden Reel Awards. Hopefully there's a soundtrack for one of the last three films of the season (Elysian, A Following, Batman: Arkham) to keep the category alive.

2. Genetic Descent
The film featured some strong performances from the likes of Charlize Theron, Ethan Hawke and Cameron Monaghan, but the film's cartoonish portrayal of drug use left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth when it was all done.

1. Box Office
The box office was great for Mass Effect, but the other films of the round has some serious struggles at the box office.
