The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 15 Round 2)

With the second round in the books, we are off to a good start in Season 15. Here's The Roundup....

3. Luke Evans
Luke Evans has both the voice and the acting chops required for a difficult role like The Phantom. The film was okay, but Evans was definitely the highlight of the picture.

2. Johnny Depp

Crimson served as a nice comeback role for an actor of Johnny Depp's skill level. I was reminded that he can still be one of the most talented actors in the world when he is properly motivated and engaged.

1. Crimson
I really dug Crimson. It's not an overly complicated film, but rather a fairly simple spy thriller. It was a load of fun though. If that is the type of spy adventure story that John Malone can come up with, I say give him James Bond already (to call back to his interview with Chad Taylor : https://chadtaylorlrf.wordpress.com/2019/04/01/inside-the-writers-studio-with-john-malone/)

3. Circumstances of Time
It's definitely not a terrible film by any means, but it was my least favorite film of the round. Things moved too conveniently for my taste, especially for a time travel film.

2. Profit
The box office was definitely not an issue this round (thankfully the recent real life events have not effected the LRF box office), but each of the films were so expensive - mostly due to big name actors/directors - that profits were hard to come by.

1. Steven Spielberg

A new Steven Spielberg film just doesn't garner the same kind of excitement that it used to 10, 20, 30 years ago. He still makes good movies (especially his first two with LRF), but I would not rank Circumstances of Time very high on his resume.
