Night Stalker: Isabella Gomez (Initiation, "Head of the Class"), Laurie Holden (The Final Will, Dragged Across Concrete), and Isaac Ordonez (7th & Union, "Wednesday") have all been tapped to round out the cast of true crime biopic Night Stalker, which details the murderous crime spree of Richard Ramirez. Gomez will play a victim, Holden will play a detective's wife, and Ordonez will play Ramirez in his youth. Trey Edward Shults is directing the film from a script by Clive Steinbeck.
Power Rangers: The Mighty Morphin' reboot of the Power Rangers franchise is also rounding out its cast with the additions of Clancy Brown (Hex, Gears of War) as the voice of Goldar, and Ethan Cutkosky (Friday the 13th, "Shameless") and Aedin Mincks (A Cowgirl's Story, "Cobra Kai") playing the teen group's school bullies Skull and Bulk. Jake Kasdan directs from an adaptation written by Diane Esposito.
Broadway Joe: The Jeremy Allen White-led and David O. Russell-helmed biopic of American football legend Joe Namath has continued filling out its supporting cast with Kathryn Hahn (Forever Hold the Peace, To The Max), Bob Odenkirk (Wonder Bean, The Betrothed), and Madelyn Cline (Flick, Under the Influence) all signing on to the project. Hahn will play Namath's supportive mother, Odenkirk will play then-NFL Commissioner Peter Rozelle, and Cline will play super model Randi Oakes. APJ penned the film, taking a rare break from action/superhero fare.
The Essence: Maude Apatow (Guy on the Fly, The Saints) and Daniela Melchior (Resident Evil 4, Road House) have joined the cast of The Essence, the latest horror project from director Ari Aster. The film still has a few more roles to cast for this moody horror-drama project. Jimmy Ellis penned the film - a rare horror project for him as a writer.
Watchmen: Director Jim Jarmusch (Paterson, The Dead Don't Die) and writer Alex Conn (Anarchy, Dean) were just announced as the creatives behind a new Watchmen adaptation for the studio's DC Comics Universe and now we finally have some casting news. Aaron Eckhart (Nineteen Minutes, Free Spirit) will play the Comedian, Justin Timberlake (Neuromancer, Reptile) will play Ozymandias, and Katherine Langford (Vampire, Skin) will play Silk Spectre II. More casting is eminent, which should also reveal how the film will co-exist with the Watchmen sequel film the studio previously released in Season 22, Who Watches the Watchmen.
Falling on the Cross: Professional wrestling films have a long history in LRF, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that writer Jacob Jones (Sexual Paradise, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom) and director Stephen Merchant (Cemetery Junction, Fighting with My Family) are teaming up for an original wrestling story. Jodie Comer (The Last of the Mohicans, Dandelion) will star in the film as a young wrestler trying to make it big through the different promotion levels of a wrestling company. Daniel Sharman (The Fix, "Fear the Walking Dead") and Leo Woodall (Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, "One Day") have also joined in supporting roles as fellow wrestlers.
