In Development

Broadway Joe: The Jeremy Allen White-led Joe Namath biopic has added Emma Mackey (Thorne, Time Out!), Quincy Isaiah (Grassland, "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), and Will Patton (Starkweather, Atlantis) to its ensemble. Mackey will play a love interest of Namath, Isaiah will play Namath's best friend on the New York Jets, while Patton will play the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams. David O. Russell is directing the film from a script by APJ.

The Essence: Lee Pace (Beasts, Among Us), RJ Cyler (Graduation Trip, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Lauren Ridloff (Beasts, The Eternals) are set to round out the cast of director Ari Aster's latest horror projects for Last Resort Films. Jimmy Ellis has penned the film as a rare horror project for the writer.

Watchmen: Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Orange Blossom, Amnesiac) has joined the Watchmen comic book adaptation from writer Alex Conn and director Jim Jarmusch. JGL will play Dan Dreiberg aka Nite-Owl in the film. Matthew Fox (We Know Where You Live, Who Watches the Watchmen) and Tony Curran (Who Watches the Watchmen, Mayflies) have also signed on to the film, reprising their roles from Who Watches the Watchmen as Doctor Manhattan and Rorschach, respectively, in the latest DC Comics Universe production.

Falling on the Cross: The new wrestling drama from writer Jacob Jones has added Calam Lynch (Benediction, Black Beauty), Rebecca Romijn (Endangered Species, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds"), Milo Gibson (Clawfoot, Manifest West), and professional WWE wrestler Thea Trinidad, better known by her ring name Zelina Vega, to its supporting cast. Jodie Comer is leading the film under the direction of Stephen Merchant, no stranger to wrestling films himself after Fighting With My Family.

The Ghost Connection: In some unexpected sequel news, Gerard Butler (Heartstone, Watch Dogs) and Jeremy Irons (Gathering of the Wolves, Caesar Part II) have signed on to headline the sequel to Season 17's The Smoke in the Red Country. This time around, the film will deal with elements of sci-fi and time travel, expanding upon the Cold War thriller elements of the first film. Also returning will be writer Meirad Tako (War of the Currents, On Life and Living) and director Tomas Alfredson (The Smoke in the Red Country, The Snowman).

Cedar Ridge: Lucas Hedges (Spider-Man: Requiem, Written By Jason) is set to headline Cedar Ridge from director Derek Cianfrance (Tomato Can, Collapse) and writer Joshua Collins (The Brothers Kendrick, Orange Blossom). Hedges will play a young man haunted by false accusations who reconnects with his cousin's family. Hailee Steinfeld (Birds of Prey, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) will help lead the cast as Hedge's cousin in the film.
