Reaction: While the cast is filled with recognizable names and faces, this clearly shows that none of them are particularly marketable to mass audiences. Director Shane Carruth's ability to work inexpensively definitely saved the studio some money on this one, thankfully.

"The story of Dark Matter never really makes much of an effort to make sense. But is that any surprise with Shane Carruth at the helm? You just have to let yourself get swept in the admittedly absurd premise and enjoy the ride." - Madison Bennett, Vanity Fair

"I was onboard for most of the film, but it just gets too ridiculous by the end. The characters seem to act illogically, and the main character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt comes across as one of the least intelligent film scientists in recent memory." - Jason Helm, New York Observer

"I have mixed feelings on Dark Matter. Many parts of the film were thrilling and intriguing, but then other parts of the film were maddening and frustrating. I'd recommend you watch it and decide for yourself if you can get past those frustrating parts. I was able to get past most of them." - Paul Landon, Film School Rejects

Rated R for violence and sexual content
