Reaction: Despite decent domestic box office numbers, the film bombed overseas, causing the film to settle for a loss. It also continues Ethan Hawke's spotty box office track record for the studio. He has now appeared in five films, but only The Troop from earlier this season managed to make a profit.
"The latest film from director Mike Mills is chalk full of relatable characters, regardless of your age. Ethan Hawke isn't the most obvious choice for the lead role here, but he imbues the role with an every-man charm not often seen in his performances." - Stephen Anderson, Entertainment Weekly
"Long Time features some fine performances, but the script by acclaimed writer Chad Taylor has trouble keeping up its momentum. The film unfortunately has trouble finding the finish line." - Vincent Kerr, Washington Post
"Like many Chad Taylor-penned films before it, Long Time is film full of colorful characters who feel like lived-in human beings. Hawke gives one of his better performances in recent years as the lead, but special notice needs to go out to Billy Crudup's small, but transformative, performance." - Charles Triano, Los Angeles Times
Rated R for some language and sexual content
