Reaction: While not the earth-shattering numbers that Batman and Booster Gold have been bringing the studio, the numbers are decent considering the lack of star power and the lack of an A-list character in the film. That said, it is the lowest grossing film in the DC Comics Universe to date - thankfully it was also the least expensive (its budget ties it with Huntress as the lowest budget for a DC Comics Universe release).
"Vixen: The Totems of Zambesi is a film that has too many characters and not enough action. I'm not sure what exactly Firestorm and Black Lightning are doing in the film as their characters really didn't seem to have goals or motivation." - Dave Cone, New York Post
"The writers have clearly had fun playing in the comic sandbox and director Steven Caple Jr. is more than capable. While the purpose of some of the characters seemed lost on the plot, I still had fun with the film." - Henry Stewart, Chicago Sun-Times
"Despite a solid lead performance from Gugu Mbatha-Rawy as the title character, she is stuck in a directionless film. Characters come and go without reason, and the plot starts out with a nice revenge angle that is seemingly abandoned in favor of generic heroics." - Ben Bernard, New York Times
Rated PG-13 for action violence
