The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 11 Round 5)

We have reached the halfway point of Season 11, and we finally have another big hit at the box office. Here's The Roundup....
3. Mahershala Ali
He has quietly had a solid career with LRF. He's really grown into the role of Martian Manhunter over his three appearances.

2. Channing Tatum

Finally, the star of Flash Gordon has been announced as Channing Tatum. He's a hit or miss actor, but based on the description of the character, he seems like a perfect choice to play a washed-up NFL player begrudgingly saving the universe.

1. Martian Manhunter
I loved Martian Manhunter. While the character has been a bit stiff in his other appearances, he is completely humanized in this film. David Lowery also turned out to be an inspired choice as director with him bringing a bit of a dramatic and emotional edge to the story that another filmmaker may not have. Hopefully Chad Taylor writes a sequel...
3. Dark Matter
I think there is an interesting idea at the core of the film, but it was convoluted and way too long. The end result ended being a subpar movie that featured a handful of really good scenes. If the story had been tighter, it easily could have made a good movie.

2. Animated Films
Aside from The Banded Ants series, animated films have not done well for the studio. Bone has joined Saga and Raptor Red as the other animated releases for the studio to lose a lot of money.

1. Box Office
Wow, the box office has been pretty unrelenting this season. It's been hard to get anything going on that end. We're halfway through the season and almost half of the films have lost money.
