Release: The Virgin Suicides

The Virgin Suicides
Genre: Drama
Director: Alex Conn
Writer: Alex Conn
Based on the novel by Jeffrey Eugenides
Cast: Thomas Mann, Kaitlyn Dever, Matthew Broderick, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, Timothee Chalamet, Kara Hayward, Katherine Langford, Peyton List

Budget: $23,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $17,446,183
Foreign Box Office: $15,732,145
Total Profit: -$24,057,331

Reaction: Definitely not what we were looking for at the box office, and a far cry from the $50 million Conn's previous directorial effort, Oh Johnny Boy, grossed. The previous adaptation of the film back in 2000 also failed to make a profit at the box office.

"None of the actors are given enough to do to really allow the audience to get to know them. Even the protagonist played by Thomas Mann seems like a bit of an enigma." - Charles Yost, Oregonian

"While Thomas Mann probably isn't quite ready to be headlining films like this, the film does feature some strong work from supporting actors Matthew Broderick, Nicole Kidman and Sarah Paulson." - Jeremy Raren, RottenTomatoes.com

"The film is a bit of a mixed bag. The film has a very talented cast, but they're given little to do for much of the film. There are some interesting scenes, but there are just as many that don't seem to serve any purpose." - Michael Wilmington, Rolling Stone

Rated R for strong thematic material involving teen suicide, sexual content and some language
