Reaction: It’s safe to say the studio is in the midst of a cold streak. The studio has now made three wrestling-themed films, and only Doctor Love managed to turn a profit. Looking at films made by other studios, films about professional wrestling have never set the box office on fire so the odds were against this one.

“The lead character here, Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, played by Halston Sage, is dramatically over-shadowed by the more colorful supporting roles filled by Bradley Cooper, Mark Ruffalo and Jack Black. In biopics, if the lead isn’t compelling, the film doesn’t work.” - Allen Poole, AV Club

“Sunny Days is a quick moving film chronicling the rise of Sunny in the wrestling world. Bennett Miller directs the film with a critical eye, although he doesn’t inject a lot of personality into the film. Thankfully there are some charismatic supporting performers to pick up that slack.” - Andy Lewis, Cincinnati Enquirer

“The baby faced lead cast (Sage, Butler, Till) are not able to keep up with the veteran supporting actors (Black, Cooper, Ruffalo). This made me wish that the film was about one of those other characters rather than the actual subject of the film - who never really comes across as interesting enough to warrant her own film.” - Mark Rawls, Seattle Times

Rated PG-13 for language, some violence, depictions of alcohol abuse and thematic material.
