Reaction: Jake Gyllenhaal is proving himself to be one of the few real movie stars around with his ability to open a movie at the box office without giant action scenes or big special effects and well-known characters to back him up (the Batman series not withstanding). So far, every single one of his films have made a profit at the box office.

"Director Villeneuve excels at these twisty-turny films that keep the audiences at the edge of their seats and questioning what is real. He directs this one with confidence, in no small part thanks to his A-List cast led by the always capable Jake Gyllenhaal." - Stephen Anderson, Entertainment Weekly

"Control feels like a cross between Seven and Inception, and I mean that in the best way possible. The film's central mystery will keep you guessing well into the film. And once things are revealed, the science fiction elements of the story never feel forced." - Clark Davis, JoBlo.com

"Jake Gyllenhaal gives one of his better performances here as the exasperated detective struggling to grasp reality. He is surrounded by a talented, well-picked supporting cast, that help deliver the mysterious and thrilling tone of the film." - Paul Ontkean, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Rated R for violence, sexuality, language and some disturbing images.
