Reaction: This one was never going to be a major hit, but we are disappointed that it just missed out on a profit. If the film had managed to not flop overseas, it would have most likely been safely into the black thanks to decent (but not great) domestic box office performance.
"L.A. Rex is unrelentingly bleak and gritty to the point of parody. We follow the cop "heroes" as they go from one over-the-top criminal interaction after the other, losing focus and the plot along the way." - Gillian Donaldson, Variety
"Is L.A. Rex worth watching? Yes. Even though the film comes off as a crazed Training Day rip-off for much of its running time and there are more supporting characters and forgettable plot threads than gangs in L.A., there is a certain macho charisma in the film and the performances from the main players." - Brenton Smalls, Playboy
"While there is a level of authenticity to the proceedings of this film's source material, this adaptation is very much a mixed bag. None of the characters are particularly likable and it was easy to lose track of supporting players within the chaos of the story. That said, if gritty and violent cop dramas are your thing, this one should have some appeal." - Allen Poole, AV Club
Rated for graphic bloody violence, drug content, pervasive language and thematic material
