X-Men: The Cure: It was already announced at this season's Comic-Con that John Travolta (AGOS: A Game of Survival, The Fanatic) has agreed to play the primary villain, former Army Colonel William Stryker. Joining him will be Josh Lawson (Bombshell, Mortal Kombat) as Stryker's right-hand man and Freida Pinto (Hillbilly Elegy, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) as the doctor who created the "mutant cure". Alex Garland is directing the film from a script by Dwight Gallo.
Aliens vs. Predator: The Long War: Emory Cohen (Rocket Red, Trip), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (The Kissing Booth 2, "Legends of Tomorrow"), Alan Ritchson (Sunny Days, Masters of the Universe) and Luke Grimes (He Kills, "Yellowstone") will round out the ensemble cast of the latest Alien/Predator Anthology film, Aliens vs. Predator: The Long War. Rupert Wyatt is returning to the franchise as director after previously directing Alien: Out of the Shadows. Carl Flimmer penned the script.
Strawberry High: Erika Bierman (Instant Family, Santa's Boot Camp), Judah Lewis(The Babysitter: Killer Queen, I See You), Finn Wolfhard (Sandbox, Asylum) and Nolan Gross (Terminator Genisys, All Summers End) have joined the teen drama Strawberry High from writer Jacob Jones and first-time director Terri Minsky. Bierman will play a French-born student, Lewis will play a popular athlete, Wolfhard will play the star of the basketball team, while Gross will play the brother or Emily Carey's character.
Excellent Women: Antony Starr ("The Boys", "Banshee"), Hugh Dancy (Prodigy, "Hannibal"), Martin Freeman (Dishonest, Pudd'nhead Wilson) and Kat Dennings (Friendsgiving, "2 Broke Girls") have joined the Amanda Seyfried-led 1950s drama Excellent Women. Starr will play the husband of Drew Barrymore's character, Dancy will play the town pastor, Freeman will play an anthropologist, while Dennings will play of friend to Seyfried's lead. Plastic Man 2: Electric Boogaloo: H. Jon Benjamin (Plastic Man, "People of Earth") will officially be back to reprise his role as Elisabeth Moss' FBI superior in the Plastic Man sequel. Also joining the film will be Annie Murphy ("Schitt's Creek", "Kevin Can F*ck Himself") as the film's villain - a less-than-talented lounge singer who becomes a criminal threat when her singing career doesn't take off. Rawson Thurber Marshall is once again directing from a script by APJ.
That Was Then, This Is Now: S.E. Hinton's novel That Was Then, This Is Now is once again getting the big screen treatment after a 1985 Emilio Estevez-led adaptation. This time around Tom Holland (The Journey, Tail), Nicholas Hamilton (Tumor, All the Pretty Horses) and Casey Affleck (For Those Who Don't Read Me, The Crucible) will take on some of the lead roles. Holland and Hamilton will play bestfriends growing up in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma. Affleck, meanwhile, Affleck will play a local barkeep who lets the boys hang around and hustle pool as long as they don't cause too much trouble. Gus Van Sant (Misfit, Promised Land) is directing the adaptation from a script by Rachel Hallett Hardcastle and Harmony Winters.
