Cast: Idris Elba, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nathalie Emmanuel, Wyatt Russell, Jane Seymour, Colin Salmon, Stephen Graham, Oscar Jaenada
Plot: Married couple Jack (Idris Elba) and Alice Robson (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) return to London Heathrow Airport from a trip. They pick up their two young children from the home of Alice’s parents, Susan (Jane Seymour) and Joel Ewels (Colin Salmon). Alice's parents comment that Jack and Alice look stressed, not like they spent a relaxing week on holiday. Jack tries to pass it off as them just being tired from the plane ride, but Alice reveals that her sister’s boyfriend went missing, which is why she didn’t return with them, as she is still in Ibiza looking for him. Jack and Alice collect their kids and return to their posh London townhouse.
That night, Jack and Alice unpack their things after the kids have gone to sleep. Jack takes out his wallet. His ID is not in its holder and there is a bloody fingerprint on the holder. Jack takes everything out of the wallet and throws it in the trash can.
Alice and her sister Steph (Nathalie Emmanuel) are eating at a cafe in London. Steph tells Alice that she invited her new boyfriend to join them as she wants Alice’s opinion of him. Alice asks why she wants her opinion now, and Steph says that he invited her to come along with him on a business trip to Ibiza. Jeremy Gold (Wyatt Russell) arrives, kissing Steph before he sits down at the table. Alice quickly asks what type of business brings an American like Jeremy to London and Ibiza. Jeremy says that he is a DJ and works at a couple clubs in London and about one week a month he works in Ibiza at a club there. Alice asks how long the two have been dating, and Steph says just about six weeks. Jeremy, sensing that Alice may be uncomfortable with her sister joining him in a foreign country after such a short time, offers for Alice and her husband to come along as well. He already has a house rented for the week that they can all stay at, so they would just need to book a flight to join. Steph becomes excited about the idea, suggesting they can all enjoy the beach, and that if they came Steph wouldn’t be bored when Jeremy has work. Alice tells them that she will discuss the idea with Jack and let them know.
Jack poses for a picture for a new identification card at the DVLA. As he drives home, he suspects he is being followed and begins speeding away from the vehicle behind him. He passes a police car that promptly pulls him over for speeding and driving recklessly. Jack watches as the car he suspected of following him continues driving away.
Steph calls her sister and tells her that she is coming to London now, even though the authorities in Ibiza still haven’t been able to locate Jeremy anywhere. When she lands in London, Steph takes a taxi to Alice and Jack’s house. Nobody is home when she gets there, so Steph sits on the front steps until someone returns. Jack is first to return from work and seems uncomfortable with Steph showing up at his front steps. Steph vents about the authorities being too lazy or stupid to find Jeremy. Alice returns home with the kids from school. The kids run inside. Alice gives her sister a hug and asks her what she’s doing here. Steph asks if she can stay with them for a little bit. Alice says of course and helps bring her stuff inside.
Alice goes home and starts working on convincing Jack to agree for them to go along with Steph and Jeremy to Ibiza. Jack isn’t fond of taking a trip on such short notice. Alice reminds him of how stressed he has been at work and suggests it would be good for him to relax in the sun and let loose in Ibiza for a week. Seeing how excited Alice is about the idea, Jack finally relents and agrees to the trip.
Jack and Alice drop their kids off with Alice’s parents and head to the airport. As they go through airport security, Jack tells Alice that he isn’t really sure what he’ll do for fun on the trip. He’s a corporate accountant, not some club kid. Alice tells Jack just to lighten up and try to have fun.
Jack arrives home and finds Steph sitting on the couch, barely dressed and smoking a joint in the living room. As Steph gets dressed and puts out the joint, Jack tells her that he doesn’t want her staying with him and Alice. She asks why, and he says he just doesn’t think it’s a good idea considering what has happened. Alice arrives home with the kids. Noticing the smell in the living room, Alice gives her sister a disapproving look and tells the kids to head to their rooms. Alice asks them what’s going on. Steph tells Alice that Jack is kicking her out. Alice asks why, and Jack says that he doesn’t need a reason why. Steph suggests Jack tell his wife about what happened on the beach between them after Alice went to bed in Ibiza. Jack sits down and admits to Alice that he and Steph got really drunk and had sex on the beach. Alice tells Steph to get out of her house. Alice goes to the bedroom without so much as looking at Jack again.
Jeremy and Steph pick up Jack and Alice from the airport in Ibiza. They drive around the island for a while taking in some of the sights before finally arriving at the beachfront house Jeremy uses when he’s down in Ibiza. Jeremy tells them that he has to go down to the club to get ready for an early time slot, but that once they’re unpacked they should come down and have some at the club.
That night, Jack, Alice and Steph are all getting drunk while Jeremy is working the DJ booth. Steph drags Jack and Alice onto the dance floor with her. Alice excuses herself to go to the restroom. Steph moves in closer to Jack and begins dancing with him. Jack goes along with it, but once he sees Alice returning from the restroom, he creates some distance between himself and Steph, going back to the bar for a drink.
Jack and Alice, despite not talking to each other right now, attend a meeting at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office regarding Jeremy’s disappearance. They ask the official, Eric Brakely (Stephen Graham), if there is anything the FCDO can do about the situation. Brakeley explains that because Jeremy is an American citizen living in the UK on a work visa there is only a little bit his office can do unless the missing person was involved in some sort of illegal activity in the UK. Jack is quick to mention that Jeremy had drugs on him and he may have smuggled them from England to Ibiza. This piques Brakeley’s curiosity and tells them that he will make an inquiry with the authorities in Ibiza. As Jack and Alice leave Blakeley’s office, they pass Steph who turns out to be Blakeley’s next appointment.
In Ibiza, Jack, Alice, Steph and Jeremy all have lunch on the patio at the beach house. Jack makes a comment about being surprised that a nightclub DJ could afford to rent a house with such a view. Jeremy then explains that a majority of his income is made by selling cheap ecstasy from England at a large markup to the Ibiza nightclub crowds. Jack and Alice laugh, thinking Jeremy is kidding, but he assures them it’s the truth and pulls a small baggie of pills from his pocket.
When Jeremy leaves for work at the nightclub, Jack, Alice and Steph head down to the beach. As Jack and Alice lounge in the sand, Alice catches Jack watching a bikini-clad Steph in the water. She pretends not to notice and kisses him.
As Jack is leaving work, Steph approaches him. Jack is angry that she would come to see him and think everything is fine after what she did. She apologizes for it and says that she just wanted to let him know that she told Blakeley that Jeremy may have seen them together and then gotten himself into trouble.
When Jack gets home, he finds Alice drunk from a bottle of wine. She insists that Jack must be continuing his affair with her sister. Jack says he has no feelings for Steph and that it was just a drunken, fucked-up mistake. He then tells Alice that Steph did come to see him today as he was leaving the office to talk about her meeting at the FCDO, but that’s all they talked about.
Alice, Jack and Steph all take some of Jeremy’s ecstasy and get drunk on the beach. Alice announces that she’s going to bed, but Jack says that he isn’t tired. Steph dances around a bonfire they’ve made on the beach. Jack watches her intently. Steph then makes her way over to Jack, sitting on top of him. She begins kissing him, and in their inebriated state kissing quickly turns to sex.
Jack is at work when his secretary informs him that someone from the FCDO is there to see him. Blakeley enters the office and tells Jack that he has a couple follow-up questions. Jack pauses his work and tells Blakeley to go ahead. Blakeley asks Jack if Jeremy may have seen something that he wasn’t supposed to see. Jack is angered by the question, saying that he has already told Blakeley that if something bad happened to Jeremy, his drug-dealing side business is surely to blame. Jack then asks Blakeley to leave as he has a lot of work to do.
After having sex with Steph, Jack wanders around the streets of Ibiza in the middle of the night. The area looks a lot less glamorous once all of the night clubs have closed. He drinks from a bottle of whiskey. A man on a motorcycle, Axel (Oscar Jaenada), stops when riding past him and asks if he’s looking for a place to drink. Jack accepts and follows Axel to a seedy after hours bar.
Alice pounds on the door of Steph’s flat. Steph answers and Alice, still drunk, begins berating her for sleeping with Jack. Steph apologizes for her behavior that led to it as she would never mean to hurt Alice like that. Alice then gets back in her car. As Alice drives toward home, she is hit by another car running a red light.
As Jack drinks beer in the after hours bar, the bartender asks Jack if he is looking for a girl to have sex with. Jack drunkenly jokes that’s the last thing in the world he needs. Axel then brings out a prostitute that is clearly very underage. Jack insists he isn’t interested and tries to leave. The men in the bar start intimidating Jack, when Jeremy suddenly emerges from the backroom of the bar. He tells the men that Jack is a friend of his and he meant no ill will. Jeremy takes Jack out of the bar. Jack is bewildered that Jeremy happened to be there, and Jeremy explains that he does a little bit of business with the men, but they are very dangerous.
Jack drops the kids off with Alice’s parents and rushes to the hospital when he learns of Alice’s car accident. She is unconscious, but the doctors inform Jack that Alice was early into a pregnancy but that the baby inside her womb has died from her injuries. Jack sits in a chair by the side of Alice’s hospital bed all night waiting for her to wake up.
Early in the morning, Alice finally wakes up to find Jack sitting there awake and waiting. She tells Jack that she has decided to take the kids with her to her parents’ for a while until they get their marriage figured out. Jack then reveals to Alice that he knows what happened to Jeremy.
The men from the bar corner Jack and Jeremy down the street from the bar. Jeremy urges Jack to get all of his money out as the men might leave him alone if they can pay them off. Jeremy gives them the money and tries to smooth things over with Axel and the others. Jack, however, is very drunk and angry about the situation. Jack tells the men that he should tell the police about their operation. One of the men charges at Jack with a knife. Jeremy blocks his path and is stabbed in the side several times. Axel holds a gun to Jack’s head and orders him to hand over his wallet. Axel takes Jack’s ID card. He tells Jack that if he goes to the police, he’ll know where to find him and his family. Jack nods his head and runs away from the area, back to the beach house.
Jack finishes telling Alice about what happened to Jeremy. Jack says that he cares too much about the safety of Alice and the kids to tell the authorities the truth as he believes the threats of the men who killed Jeremy. Jack breaks down crying unsure how he’s supposed to live with it all. Alice embraces Jack with uncertainty in her eyes. Jack asks Alice not to leave him.
