Dan Stevens' 007 debut, Risico, has solved this season's blockbuster problem. Here's The Roundup....
3. SoundtracksWe've already had five soundtracks in the first three rounds of Season 20 (and a couple were actually good). At this rate we should have plenty of options come GRA season.
2. John Malone
Between Superman, Bond and Namor, I feel that John Malone as emerged as the best blockbuster writer in LRF. Risico has joined his Superman films, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Crimson, the Scion trilogy and The Prisoner as some of the finest blockbusters in LRF history.
1. Risico
Dan Stevens made for a perfect new James Bond. The film successfully combined different aspects from the franchise's history even better than I hoped for. I can't wait for the sequel. The teaser poster released is pretty intriguing and may even be giving us a clue as to the plot.
3. The World: Done to Death
The World: Done to Death has some decent little set pieces, but it all felt way too familiar. I don't there was a single moment in this film that I haven't elsewhere prior.
2. L.A. Rex
L.A. Rex felt a film they tried to make seem different and original by adding in lots of shocking violence - but the plot itself is pretty generic. Disguising the basic story with shocking violence simply didn't do the trick for me.
1. Profits
Over half of the films from this season so far have failed to turn a profit. In fact, if you take Risico out of the mix, the studio would be in the red about $40 million. Hopefully upcoming blockbusters like X-Men: The Cure and Plastic Man 2 can help in that department.
