The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 23 Round 8)

The box office has been fairly healthy of late with just two rounds left of Season 23. Here's The Roundup....

3. Box Office
With two rounds to go, the box office is looking pretty good right now. Plus there is at least one sure fire hit with Booster Gold: Back in Time coming up soon. I think it is safe to say that this season will easily surpass last season's Total Box Office and Profit (probably by a decent amount).

2. Viggo Mortensen
He was great in Berserker (more on that below), but I feel like he warranted his own bulletpoint as he is in the middle of a nice career comeback right now in LRF following the success of his role in last season's Batman: In The Shadows.

1. Berserker
Another film I'd say is a masterpiece, or near masterpiece. It's one of five films I could say that about (a couple of which are on the way soon). Mortensen was great in the lead role, and Dwight Gallo's script felt like the dark viking version of his Elektra - and I mean that as a good thing. The story is pushed along nicely by the physical and emotional trials Viggo must face.

3. Best Actress Race
This is not going to be a very competitive category this season. Not only are there not very many award-worthy performances, but there weren't very many female lead performances to even choose from. Let's face it, this is clearly Sydney Sweeney's award to lose at this point (and will be an easy win unless there are some serious surprises in the last two rounds of the season).

2. The Oil Slick
I actually liked most of The Oil Slick, especially the football scenes and Cameron Britton's big emotional scene. I just wish there were some glimpses of the personal lives of the players and coaches, like John Malone already commented on.

1. Jurassic Park: Another Adventure
I'm just not a fan of these sorts of "sidequels". The stakes of the story are unimportant because we saw what was important on the island already in the original Jurassic Park. It's not a horribly made film, I just didn't see the point of it all.
