"Black Widow x Hawkeye is lacking in the plot department, which is a surprise given the writing duo of Malone and Ellis. Mila Kunis and Boyd Holbrook shine as Black Widow and Hawkeye, carrying the film with their natural chemistry. There are several thrilling action set pieces in the film, but director J Blakeson keeps things grounded in espionage. The plot's reliance on familiar tropes prevents the film from feeling fresh. In the end, the film is an entertaining entry in LRF's Marvel Universe, but far from a groundbreaking experience." - Ken Decker, Denver Post

"I'm sure other critics may point out the lack of some traditional superhero character development/origin elements, but I think that's the point here. This is a superhero/spy film in the modern action style of kinetic action first films like John Wick and Bullet Train. Action and character chemistry are what matters with a project of this style, and Black Widow X Hawkeye nails those elements. Every action sequence is exciting and visceral, while the characters all work great off of each other, with Holbrook and Kunis oozing chemistry. Hopefully we get more of them together in the future of the Marvel Universe." - Adam Carpenter, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

"The film delivers entertaining high-stakes action that keeps the momentum going, but it falls majorly short on character development. The villain comes across as forgettable, with motivations that feel more suited to a Saturday morning cartoon than a compelling superhero narrative. While Mila Kunis and Boyd Holbrook give strong performances and hint at great potential to grow for future stories, the movie fails to explore what makes their characters tick and/or their unique dynamic. Ultimately, it’s an enjoyable experience, but it leaves you wishing for could've been more." - Daniela Clark, Des Moines Register

Rated PG-13 for kinetic action violence, language, and some thematic material
