Round 8 finally adds another blockbuster to the studio's records.  Here's The Roundup....

3. Blockbusters

Gamera was a much needed blockbuster film for the studio in Season 31. It quickly became the highest grossing film of the season so far and just the third film to gross over $300 million

2. The Beauty

The Beauty works because of its performances and the strength of its casting. It definitely leans toward melodrama and cliche at times, but it doesn't hurt the overall product too much. 

1. Gamera

I'm no kaiju film expert, but Gamera was good. It was along the quality level of the better films in Legendary's MonsterVerse. I think this could be the start of an exciting new franchise in LRF for rookie writer Nic Suzuki.

Two out of three releases in a round losing money is never a good thing even if the one film makes a lot.

I can't say much more than what has already been said. The casting issues (best illustrated by Lon Charles on the board) doomed this film.
