For this edition of Interview, Last Resort Films president Phil Dolan sat down with the studio's DC wunderkind APJ about some of his upcoming DC projects.
PD: Huntress has been in the works for a long time now, but is finally set for release at the end of this season, what took so long?
APJ: Part of it was making the story fit a rising star like Hailee Steinfeld. It just took some time to get the story where I wanted. It then took about as long to find the right director for the material. Every aspect of the film just took a little longer than usual for my projects.
PD: How is work on the sequel to Batman: Gotham Knight coming along?
APJ: Batman has such a rich and storied rogue's gallery that it took quite a while to decide what villains to focus on this time around. I know the first film caught a bit of flack for how many villains there were, so this time around I decided to tone that down and try to focus on just a couple villains. Like I did with Black Mask in Gotham Knight, I also wanted to bring in a villain that has never appeared on the big screen before.
PD: What's next for you?
APJ: A lot of my upcoming work will be on the long awaited Justice League International film with D.R. Cobb and Chad Taylor. I still have a little work to do on the next Batman film. I have a couple more DC projects in the works, as well as couple more video game adaptations.
