Reaction: Horror has been a tough genre for us to read into at the box office. We've had films that were successful and not so successful, but it's been really hard to guess which a horror film will be for us. With Queen Mary, we were definitely expecting at least a modest success based on the cast alone.
"While the setting is fun, and some of the characters' relationships are interesting, this film ultimately fails because it simply isn't scary - and that is what is most important when it comes to horror." - Alonzo Lane, The Star-Ledger
"Queen Mary works best when the characters are contemplating and debating whether their actions are the right thing to do in the moment. The plot itself is rather cliche, but the interactions been the characters is anything but." - Ben Mazur, SciFiNow
"Eli Roth's latest is a paint-by-numbers film with an unoriginal set-up and unlikable characters. All of this would be fine if the film contained any original scares, but Queen Mary mostly resorts to the standard jump scares and gore." - Samuel O'Brien, Sight and Sound Magazine
