The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 10 Round 4)

This was a pretty solid round, which makes it especially difficult to come up with a Bottom 3 - but I have a job to do, so here's The Roundup....
3. Box Office
This round was highly profitable for the studio with one bonafide hit with one minor success, with only one of the films failing to turn a profit - Ghost Town - and that barely missed out on hitting the black.

2. Frances McDormand

I have to assume that at this point, Frances McDormand is the early favorite for the Best Supporting Actress Golden Reel Award. She gave a truly great performance (yet again). She was easily the best part of Eileen.

1. Ghost Town
It's hard for me to find any fault in this movie. It was great. It tackled difficult issues without taking sides or talking down to the audience - something that seems to be growing increasingly difficult to do. The cast was great. I especially enjoyed Kyle Chandler's character. He's about the job, not the color of anyone's skin. It's another great performance from a great actor.

3. Jennifer Lawrence
J-Law really didn't seem right for this particular role. Eileen is supposed to come across as a Plain Jane, but the problem is that she looks like Jennifer Lawrence - who is certainly no Plain Jane. It made it more difficult to buy into the character's journey.

2. Skyrim
Skyrim is by no means a bad film, but it is a film that doesn't have any resolution. Instead of having an action packed conclusion like most blockbusters, Skyrim has gone with no conclusion as its conclusion. All the ending of the film did was set up the sequel. I personally hate when movies do this. It cheats the audience.

1. Nicolas Cage
I LOVE Nicolas Cage. Even in bad movies, he's at least always entertaining. However, he was not all that entertaining in Eileen. He simply wasn't given enough to do, and not given a role he could sufficient dig his intense teeth into.
