Reaction: Very poor numbers for Grim O'Grady's first film as a writer. This dark fantasy film just couldn't find an audience making it already the second substantial bomb of the season (Ubik being the first).
"I honestly can't figure out who this film is intended for. While it features many of the tropes associated with the YA-fantasy sub-genre, it gets pretty dark in points - probably too dark for the female tweens who usually eat this stuff up. At the same time the film was probably too flighty for more hardcore fantasy enthusiasts." - Ben Mazur, SciFiNow
"The film builds a very strong, dark atmosphere throughout. The story is definitely a slow-burn, and Sandra Bullock isn't given a whole lot to do, but the overall creepy and disturbing aura of the film is worth the price of admission." - Audrey Columbus, Collider
"This Alice in Wonderland rip-off left me confused and depressed. The story takes forever to get going, and once it doesn't make a whole lot of sense." - Ken Decker, Denver Post
Rated PG-13 for dark and disturbing images, brief strong language and intense fantasy and horror violence.
