Eileen: Joel Kinnaman (Metal Gear Solid, Village of Madness) and Amy Forsyth ("Channel Zero", "Rise") have signed onto appear in the film Eileen, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway. Kinnaman plays a prison guard Lawrence has a crush on, while Forsyth will play her independent sister. Gavin O'Connor directs from an adaptation by T.F.W. Hallowayne.
Ghost Town: The rather large ensemble cast of Ghost Town, from director Barry Jenkins and writer Chad Taylor, is now complete with the additions of Ashton Sanders (Moonlight, The Equalizer 2), Mustafa Shakir ("Luke Cage", Brawl in Cell Block 99), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (It Comes at Night, Assassination Nation) and Letitia Wright (Black Panther, Ready Player One).
Haute Couture: The already star-studded cast of the latest film from director Jean-Marc Vallee has added the likes of Frances McDormand (Amelie, Libra), Chloe Grace Moretz (The Secret History, Eleanor & Park), Ruth Negga ("Preacher", Warcraft) and Katherine Langford (Tenth Circle, Burial Rites). McDormand will play a hair and makeup specialist in the fashion-themed film, while Moretz, Negga and Langford will all walk the runway as models. The film was written by James Morgan and Ann Morrow.
Saga: Last Resort Films as a studio has not produced very many animated films over the season, but this season will see one with the animated comic book adaptation Saga. The film will utilize motion capture animation under the direction of Andy Serkis (Breathe, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle). Steven Yeun ("The Walking Dead", Mayhem), Natalie Morales ("The Grinder", Battle of the Sexes) and Sadie Sink ("Stranger Things", The Glass Castle) will voice some of the film's main characters. The film will tell the story of a husband and wife (Yeun and Morales) from long-warring alien races, fleeing from both sides to protect their daughter. Another new writer, Wesley Campbell, makes their debut with the film.
Stray Dogs: James McAvoy (Ubik, The Price of Fame), Elizabeth Olsen (Heavy Rain, Bonnie and Clyde), John Leguizamo (Heavy Rain, John Wick: Chapter 2) and Don Cheadle (Shake Hands with the Devil, Blue Heat) have all been cast in an upcoming western, Stray Dogs, from director Robert Rodriguez (Blue Beetle, Road Rash) and writer Ben Collins (Black Dublin, Damned Ship). McAvoy will play a card shark who finds himself in jail alongside Olsen, who will play a prostitute, and Cheadle, who will play a mentally disturbed man. Leguizamo will play a Mexican sharpshooter they meet.
Letter to Myself: While Mo Buck (7 Days, Calamity) may have taken a break from writing, he has still been busy. Buck has been prepping his directorial debut. Lucas Hedges (To the Moon, Life of a Champion Part 2), Elle Fanning (Perfect Blue, Made in Abyss), Mackenzie Foy (Asylum, Made in Abyss) and Asa Butterfield (Ranger, Welcome to Paradise) have been cast in the autobiographical project. Hedges will play Mo, a hopeful high school hockey player whose dreams are crushed after an injury leaves him in a wheelchair. Fanning will play his love interest. Foy and Butterfield will play his friends Ann and Dominic (sound familiar?).
