Reaction: Prey has unfortunately become the first bomb of Season 12. The film performed well overseas, but domestic audiences really didn't seem all that interested in this one.
"The plot of Prey comes across as a bit dated since the publication of the novel in 2002. Tech-based plots don't exactly age well without being updated for the times (who uses an MP3 player anymore?). That's a major issue with Neil Burger's film, but its not the only one." - Michael Carthage, Associated Press
"Prey not only comes across as a bland thriller, but it also wastes some fine actors on exposition-heavy roles. Some stronger character development would have been nice, although I think it is safe to say that the characters were never meant to overshadow the out of control nanobots of the plot." - Harvey Wallace, New York Magazine
"While the odds of it being nominated at the GRAs are slim, Prey is an entertaining popcorn thriller featuring some charismatic actors and a villain that is a legitimate threat to our heroes." - Grace Palance, indieWire
Rated PG-13 for language, some violence and scenes of peril.
