The Roundup with Jeff Stockton (Season 12 Round 10)

Well, that's a wrap on Season 12 here at Last Resort Films. The season certainly ended on a high note with three strong films being released during the round. For the last time in Season 12, here's The Roundup....
3. Time Passages
The film was decent. I had some problems with it (see Bottom 3), but the music was good and it wasn't really something I've seen before, which is always a plus.

2. Swamp Thing

It was a strong introduction to some new DC Comics Universe faces. I can't wait to see what the studio has planned for Justice League Dark and which other characters we may meet on the way there.

1. Torso
I really enjoyed Torso despite its long length. It featured a good lead role for Jake Gyllenhaal and some interesting supporting roles for the likes of Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke and rising star Jack Reynor. The violence was satisyingly disturbing and the film managed to be a thriller where I genuinely didn't see the ending coming.
3. Length
This round had some long films, perhaps too long for my liking. Time Passages and Torso both barely came in under the maximum length. I don't mind films pushing the limits, it was just a little difficult having two of them in the same round.

2. Time Passages
It wasn't a bad film, but it was my least favorite of the round. The two leads weren't very interesting as characters and all of the "kids" cast seemed way to old to be playing high schoolers. That said, the film featured some good music, which always helps matters.

1. Ben Platt
He may have a decent singing voice and an affable demeanor, but man does Platt completely lack the kind of charisma necessary to carry a film.
