Plot: Lady Shiva (Hong Chau) stands in front of a small terrorist group known as the Third World Liberation Army (TWLA) in an abandoned warehouse. She holds out her katana to the leader of the organisation. She swings the katana and kills the leader. Black Spider (John David Washington) appears from behind her with his wrist mounted retractable pistol and shoots some members. Other members of The League of Assassins seem to come out of nowhere and slice the TWLA members to pieces. Black Spider is caught in the middle of three TWLA members and he uses his martial arts to defeat the men with ease. With all the TWLA defeated, Spider and Shiva come together. Shiva tells Spider that this should be a big enough message sent and the league of assassins disappear as quickly as they arrived.
Amanda Waller (Halle Berry) sits at her desk in her office staring aimlessly into the computer. She stands up and slams the computer into the table multiple times until it is smashed. She yells out to Sasha Bordeaux (Lea Seydoux) and tells her to send in Agent Kate Spencer, she wants to have a word with her.
Former attorney turned DEO agent Kate Spencer (Yvonne Strahovski) walks into Waller’s office. Waller tells her she has a job for her in the field. Spencer’s face lights up, however there is a but. Waller adds that it will be on the down low and nobody can know. She also adds that she has an idea for a task force for Spencer to lead. She calls them Task Force X, criminals caught by the heroes of Justice League International. Spencer is now unsure if she wants to do it but Waller demands that she does, she says if she doesn’t Waller will make her life hell. Waller tells Spencer to leave as she makes a phone call to tell someone to initiate Task Force X.
Ralph Dibney (Clayne Crawford), with a metahuman chip in his arm, is sitting next to Mick Rory (Ben Foster) in prison. Dibney is bugging Mick and keeps asking if he has ever used the heat gun to roast a chicken. Rory just stares at Dibney and asks if he ever shuts up. Dibney says that he has trouble doing it. Rory gets up and walks away from the conversation as Dibney yells out to him saying that he will see him later. Dibney is then grabbed from behind by a prison guard and stunned.
Dr. Kirk Langstrom (John Cusack) is in a lab, however is being watched by 3 prison guards. He has beakers and flasks in front of him. In a few beakers he has some of his cooled blood that he is running tests on so he can stop the transformation permanently. He injects himself with a toxin that he believes can temporarily stop the transformation. He smiles at no side effects. A knock at the door of the lab is heard and someone whispers into one of the guards ears. The guard yells out to Langstrom to follow him, he is going on a trip.
Malcolm Merlyn (Clive Owen) sits in his cell brooding. He is sketching arrows into the wall with a piece of metal. A guard comes in and Merlyn turns around and stabs the guard until a few more guards come in and apprehend him. He is taken out with a sadistic smile.
Copperhead (Mackenzie Davis) is in her cell, her body is contorted like a pretzel. She continues to contort her body into different shapes, she even almost manages to fit through the cells before guards come in and take her.
Merlyn, Langstrom, Dibney, Copperhead and Rory are all on stretchers being pushed by different guards. Dibney looks straight at Rory and says that he told him he’d see him soon. Standing in front of them is Amanda Waller, Kate Spencer and Waller’s head of security Sasha Bordeaux. Waller tells all of them that they have had a chip implanted in their heads that is an explosive, if they do not follow her orders the bomb is blown, Spencer has strict orders to do so. Langstrom screams out as he wanted out of all of this. Waller doesn’t care and tells him to shut up. Waller tells the group that they will be heading to Tibet to fight a terrorist organisation. She adds that this is below the JLI’s pay grade, so it is their job to do it. Another person shows up late, the Rainbow Rider (Chris D'Elia), he wants to know what all this is about. Merlyn says that Waller was bluffing about the bombs. Waller gets up close to Merlyn looking in his eyes and says that she never bluffs, she hits a button on a phone and it explodes the Rainbow Riders head. Dibney stretches his head and whispers to Merlyn that he doesn’t think she was bluffing.
They are all taken into secluded rooms and given their gear back. The Dark Archer gets his hood and bow and arrows. Langstrom is forced to transform into the Man-Bat, screeching. Dibney can hear the screeching and is freaked out as he puts on his suit. Copperhead gets her poison and hugs it. Heatwave (Rory) is given his leather jacket and his flamethrower hand gun, he torches a curtain and the flame is put out straight away by Spencer who is given her own red suit and batons. She tells Heatwave that she is in charge and there will be no torching unless it is absolutely necessary.
The team is all together, Dibney looks around at everyone in their gear and smiles, he jokes about how dark and broody The Dark Archer is. Man-Bat screeches at him and Dibney’s body bounces back and forth. The crew are all told to get onto the plane and get ready to go to Tibet. The Dark Archer’s face suddenly has a look of fear and happiness.
Shiva and Black Spider are back at their base of operations, Nanda Parbat. Black Spider takes off his mask and Shiva begins calling him by his real name, Eric. She then tells him he needs a bit more training, he has a lot more potential. He argues against it but she says he has only been here for three months and he is already one of the best members of the league. She remembers when she found him.
Flashback Sequence: Eric Needham holds his father in his arms at a liquor store, apologising over and over again. Eric says he will make the drugs pay. He leaves his father where he is as he takes to the streets of Gotham City, the home of the Bat. Eric heads straight to a dodgy area and meets with what looks to be a drug dealer. The man goes for a handshake but Eric pulls out a gun. He stares into the dealers eyes and pulls the trigger. A montage is then shown of Eric beating up different drug dealers, then shooting them dead. One night when he was about to kill another drug dealer, a woman was watching him. He shoots the man dead, and the woman, revealed to be Lady Shiva, jumps down from the stairs. She says that the league could do with some grit like his, he fights her off for a bit but her martial arts is too good, she knocks him out. Eric wakes up in a sandy cell with Shiva sitting next to him, he asks where he is and she says that he is in Nanda Parbat. She throws a mask and suit at him so he can’t be seen by the others, she calls him The Black Spider. End Flashback
David Cain (Stephen Lang) walks out to where Eric and Lady Shiva are talking. He welcomes his wife, and Eric back to Nanda Parbat, he has heard that the mission was successful and that they caught Waller’s attention. He says cutting supplies was a wonderful idea and thanks Eric for that. He tells Eric that he is free to leave the room and he takes his wife by the hand to go to their room.
On the plane with a lot of agents is the task force. Kate Spencer is talking to the Task Force about where exactly they are going and who exactly they are facing. She says that they are going to Nanda Parbat and that they are facing The League of Assassins more importantly, according to Waller, they are to take out Lady Shiva and David Cain. Dibney says that the name Lady Shiva sounds fake and he thinks it’s all a joke. Merlyn sitting in the corner assures him that she is no joke, she is the best of the best. She’s never been defeated in hand to hand combat. Heatwave speaks and says that he doesn’t even need to touch her with his fists he is just going to burn her alive. Merlyn says he’d like to see him try, to which Heatwave gets angry about. He stands up and gets in the face of Merlyn who doesn’t seem fazed. All the while Dibney is pulling faces at the chained up and sedated Man-Bat to get him to wake up. Spencer yells at them and tells Heatwave to sit down. Copperhead is in the corner just hissing, Dibney stretches his neck to whisper in her ear that he happens to love snakes.
Amanda Waller sits at her desk in her office with a brand new computer, she watches the downloaded footage of Shiva destroying the TWLA, and she gets furious until Sasha Bordeaux calms her down. Waller tells her that she wants those two pieces of shit and she wants to stop their devil child from ever being born. Bordeaux is taken back by that and questions Waller’s actions, is killing a pregnant woman really worth it? Waller looks at her oddly and tells her to leave. Bordeaux walks up to Waller and puts her hands on her shoulders, beginning to massage her, she tells her that she knows she is under stress and she is sorry. Bordeaux kisses her on the top of her head then leaves.
The Task Force X land in Tibet and start walking off the plane. Dibney stretches him arms out until his hands are off screen. Heatwave stares at Merlyn as they walk off still angry at him. The still sedated Man Bat is wheeled out of the plane and Copperhead walks off sharpening her fangs. Spencer assembles the team and leads them into where the Task Force will be staying for the night before the big day.
As the Task Force walk into the building they are staying, they are ambushed by members of the league of assassins. They start trying to kill the Task Force. Dibney is shaping his body so he dodges all of the strikes they throw his way. Merlyn matches the assassins in their combat he shoots multiple of them with his arrow, however his neck is cut and the chip in his neck is shown falling out, he quickly stomps on it then grabs something to put on his neck. Copperhead comes in to the fight and uses her poison from her fangs to kill some. Kate Spencer is also using her batons to strike the assassins, but is sliced slightly by a katana. Heatwave walks in and says that he has been waiting to roast someone all day. He goes ham on cooking up some ninjas as he calls them. He burns the rest of them alive as he laughs. Man-Bat starts to wake up but suddenly turns into Langstrom he is scared as he knows he has been the bat. Dibney looks at him and is shocked that the monster is really a person. The Task Force all look to Spencer on what to do next, she says they need to rest but need to keep one eye open. She then sees the cut on Merlyn’s neck and orders another agent to stitch it up, they do it quickly to Merlyn’s disapproval.
Langstrom, who brought some vials of his ‘antidote’, works in a makeshift lab to perfect his ‘antidote’. He then injects himself with it but he immediately turns into Man-Bat. The agents, including Spencer, quickly try to apprehend him but Man-Bat starts to speak. He tells the agent that he still has Langstrom’s mind, something must have went wrong with the antidote, he assures the agents he is not dangerous unless they are assassin members. He does not want to kill anyone but to preserve his own life he will. Spencer tells him he needs to rest, in fact the whole team does. Merlyn puts his hand up to be the first watch, Dibney makes a joke about how the first watch is always the first to die. Merlyn doesn’t blink.
As the rest of the team sleep Merlyn is watching. Merlyn puts on his quiver and grabs his bow, going outside. There is an agent sitting outside he sneaks up to him and slices his throat before putting him on his shoulder and hiding him, he then continues his walk.
Merlyn arrives at Nanda Parbat and is stopped by a group of assassins who hold him with swords pointed towards him. He is taken in to see Cain. Cain is standing in front of the assassins with his wife Lady Shiva standing next to him and behind them stands Black Spider. He is giving a speech on how Ra’s Al Ghul would love to see what his organization has become. The assassins holding Merlyn bring him in, he is pushed to his knees by the assassins and he looks up to Cain. Cain asks him who he is and Merlyn lifts his head and takes his hood off. Shiva is shocked to see the old friend Malcolm Merlyn back in Nanda Parbat. Merlyn tells them all about the Task Force and about thow they killed the assassins stationed at the building only one kilometre away. Cain is shocked at how quickly Waller put her team together, but he doesn’t believe they are a threat he says that the league will wait for them, he decides to let the task force make the first move.
All of Task Force X wake up. Spencer goes to check on Merlyn but he is not there. She goes inside and frantically opens the laptop to explode the bomb in his head but there is no sign of life. She turns to the task force and tells them that Merlyn is dead. Dibney looks to Copperhead and tells her that he told him so. Copperhead sits there in silence. Man-Bat comes out from where he is sleeping and immediately Dibney hides behind Heatwave who aims his gun at Man-Bat. Man-Bat hides behind his wings and Spencer steps in front saying that the consciousness of Dr Langstrom is now woven in with the Man-Bat so he is no longer a threat unless he is needed to be. Langstrom thanks her. She tells the team that they now need to go to Nanda Parbat and it won’t be easy to get to Shiva and Cain, but that is there only job and when they do that they can leave no more lives need to be lost.
Task Force X head out to put the attack on. Man Bat says that there will most likely be an ambush and that they need a plan. They have already been ambushed once before, so it is likely to happen again. He asks Spencer if she has a good plan, to which she says she does and it involves him. She also commands all of her agents to change into the clothes of the league of assassins, the corpse’s clothes. Dibney laughs at the assassins but Spencer tells him to zip his lips or he will have to wear it too. He makes his lips sewn shut.
Man-Bat is flying above and around Nanda Parbat, he is searching for any sign of movement but cannot see anything. He flies back down to the Task Force and tells them this. Spencer thought this was the case. She tells the agents to take her and the rest of the Task Force in as ‘prisoners’, except for Man Bat she tells him to keep flying until he sees anything.
The Task Force are taken in by the ‘assassins’, however no movement, Copperhead is hissing at the trees around. They all look up and can see other assassins, however they don’t move, already seeing ‘assassins’ taking them in. They take them into Nanda Parbat. As they take them in more assassins jump near them. One of the disguised agents says that they found the Task Force, he also asks where Cain is. The assassin tells them to follow him. They enter a room with candles. On a throne type chair sits David Cain, to his left sits Lady Shiva and to his right to the shock of the team is Merlyn. Cain says who would have thought capturing them was that easy. Just as he says that the agents unmask and reveal themselves, the team then take on the surrounding assassins. Dibney uses his stretchy body to wrap a few up. Heatwave burns some alive before being taken to the ground by Merlyn. Heatwave smiles and says that finally he gets to beat his ass. Many agents are dying and Man Bat can hear their screams. He swoops down taking out a few assassins on his way. He also joins the fight flying assassins into the air and then dropping them back down to Earth. Copperhead uses her poisons to incapacitate her enemies, however she is struck down from behind by Lady Shiva. Shiva stabs Copperhead until she can no longer breathe. Shiva begins slicing through agents until she is pulled back by Cain. He says that he can no longer risk the baby’s wellbeing. He tells her to go hide, this is his fight now. He grabs Shiva’s sword and continues from where she started by slicing through agents.
Black Spider after praying joins the fight, he goes straight for Dibney who has just strangled some assassins with is body. Dibney looks Black Spider up and down and asks if he wants to dance. Black Spider lunges at him and tries to hit him but Dibney dodges. Spider is getting frustrated and shoots all of his ammo at Dibney but the bullets just bounce off. Dibney says that the dance is over and wraps himself around Spider, he tells him that he likes his suit and that he can come back with The Task Force. With his other arm he reaches to the top of the building and pulls him and Black Spider out getting themselves to safety.
Heatwave and Merlyn are still fighting fist to fist. Merlyn knocks Heatwave down and says that he doesn’t want to kill any of them, he has grown to like them. He just wants to stay in Nanda Parbat and wait for the return of the Demon’s head. He also adds that he wants to be the one to kill David Cain as he wants to lead the league for himself. Merlyn helps Heatwave up (to his shock) and tells him to go help the other he is going after Cain himself.
The team look battered and bruised but the job is not done.
Merlyn walks toward Cain and tells him he should be the one leading the league. Cain asks if this is a challenge. Merlyn calmly walks toward him and the two begin to fight, Spencer looks on in disbelief as she thought that Merlyn betrayed them. This spurs her on and she fights off some more assassins, with help from the rest of the team. Cain has Merlyn pinned down about to finish him off but he sees Shiva looking on, that split second is all it took for Merlyn to grab the knife and stab it into Cain’s neck. Shiva screams as more assassins come in. Merlyn looks at the Task Force and tells them to save themselves and leave, he will take care of Shiva. Spencer yells out for Man-Bat to come down and get them, he takes out the team one after the other.
With no agents left it is, Heatwave, Elongated Man, Agent Spence, Man-Bat and the captured Black Spider. They call for the plane to come down and get them. In the plane is Waller and Bordeaux ensuring the job is done. Spencer looks at her and says that they lost Copperhead and Merlyn. Waller doesn’t care, she also says that the job is done, Cain and Shiva are dead. Waller asks who the man with Dibney is, Dibney says that it’s a new friend for them all. Waller says that he can now be a part of Task Force X, she has Bordeaux insert a chip in him on the spot. Waller says that she will make sure each member will receive 5 years off their original sentences for what they have done here. Dibney looks at her and asks what his sentence was to begin with, he just though he got to hang out with Rory. Rory also requests one thing on top of his 5 years off, that he be far away from Dibney. Waller shakes her head in disagreement. Dibney holds out a fist bump for Waller.
As Merlyn just killed their leader the assassins can do nothing but watch, he is the leader now. He walks towards Lady Shiva and pulls out his sword, she has nothing but tears in her eyes. She looks up to Merlyn and says that she is pregnant. Merlyn looks at her and sees the truth, instead of killing her he asks if she will be his second in command. She nods in fear and he smiles sinisterly.
Dibney lies on the bottom bunk of his bed in the cell. He is talking to his cellmate about how much fun it was fighting ninjas, and that Mick Rory is actually a nice guy. The cellmate speaks up and it turns out to be Eric Needham, he has the pillow over his ears as the month he has been Dibney’s cellmate has been hell.
Mid Credits Scene: Amanda Waller is sitting at her desk. She grabs her phone and dials a number. The person answers and Waller says, “Lawton, this is Mockingbird, assemble the Secret Six, I have a job for them.”
Post Credits Scene: Merlyn walks toward the ‘throne’, with the assassins looking on, as he is about to sit he feels a presence. He turns to see a figure, he quickly gets on one knee bowing his head. The camera pans up to see Ra’s Al Ghul (Viggo Mortenson) smiling.
