Resume: Jackie Chan

Legendary kung fu movie star Jackie Chan is set to his famed Police Story character, Chan Ka-Kui, for perhaps the final time in the upcoming trilogy-capper - Police Story: Case Closed. For the latest edition of Resume, we look at Chan's LRF filmography....

Season 4
Marvelous
Director: Jesse Bochco
Writer: Jack Ryder

Budget: $21,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $6,513,047
Foreign Box Office: $10,310,140
Total Profit: -$10,825,266

Jackie Chan's first film for the studio was the dramatic adventure film from writer Jack Ryder, playing a Chinese man encountered by a young woman who survived a plane crash. The film was not well received and was a dud at the box office.

Season 11
Police Story: The Return
Director: Patrick Hughes
Writer: Meirad Tako

Budget: $50,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $41,997,304
Foreign Box Office: $101,389,328
Total Profit: $9,441,725

Next for Chan was his first LRF reprial of his original Police Story role. This film was very well liked by critics either, but made a profit thanks to very strong foreign box office receipts - enough to warrant a sequel, but more on that later.

Season 13
Dragon Ball: The Wrath of the Demon King
Director: James Wan
Writer: Giovanni Garcia

Budget: $55,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $67,388,012
Foreign Box Office: $155,400,560
Total Profit: $50,119,831

Chan then appeared in a supporting role as Roshi in the Dragon Ball reboot from director Jame Wan and writer Giovanni Garcia. The film received mixed reviews and was once again a big hit overseas.

Season 15
Police Story: Extradition
Director: Wilson Yip
Writer: Meirad Tako

Budget: $63,000,000
Domestic Box Office: $66,457,106
Foreign Box Office: $132,003,502
Total Profit: $31,113,000

Up next for Chan was a sequel to Police Story: The Return. This second entry received much better reviews than the first and grossed a good chunk more at the box office.

Up Next: Jackie Chan doesn't have any other projects set in stone following Police Story: Case Closed, but there have been some rumblings of a sequel to Dragon Ball which he could appear in.
