Plot: In his office at the Crazy Horse Casino, Chief Red Crow (Wes Studi) is paid a visit by the other members of the Oglala Tribal Council. They let him know that they have some rather large concerns about current matters on the Prairie Rose Reservation. When he inquires what they have an issue with, they mention that they are not thrilled that he has hired Gina Bad Horse's son to be an officer with the tribal police. As if on queue, Dash Bad Horse (Martin Sensmeier) bursts into the room, pissed about not having any backup at the latest meth lab bust where Officer Falls Down was nearly killed. Red Crow asks the council if they can continue their conversation some other time. As soon as they leave, Dash holds a gun to Red Crow's head and demands to know why he set them up to die in that meth lab. Red Crow laughs it off, insisting that he likes Dash, but that if he aims a gun at him again he better be ready to pull the trigger.

Dash storms out of the casino, smashing a window on the way out. He gets into his car and speeds off as he lights a cigarette. A coyote crosses the road causing an oncoming car to swerve toward Dash's car. He narrowly avoid being hit and slams on his breaks. The other car has stopped in the middle of the road. Dash gets out of his car with his nightstick and charges over to the other vehicle. When he sees that the other driver is Carol Red Crow (Jessica Matten) he lowers his nightstick, instead beginning to yell at her, asking if she is trying to kill the both of them with her terrible driving. She mentions there was a coyote in the road. He asks her if the life of a coyote is worth more than her own. She doesn't answer his question. Dash then notices that Carol is trying to hide a black eye she has. Dash grabs her by the chin to get a better look and demands to know who hit her so he can give the son of a bitch a matching black eye. Carol refuses to answer. Dash loses his patience and tells Carol to just hit the coyote next time. He gets back into his car and drives away.

Dash meets up with Agent Nitz (Jeff Fahey) at their usual spot for a progress report. Dash tells Nitz about his confrontation with Red Crow and the meth lab bust. Nitz is annoyed that Dash would confront Red Crow like that until Dash mentions that the tribal council was there when it happened and they did not look too happy with him. This makes Nitz smile a bit. Dash then describes how he feels he was set up to be killed at the meth lab. Nitz disagrees with Dash's assessment though, instead suggesting that the assailants were more likely gunning Falls Down, being the honest cop he is, and Dash just got in the way. As Dash turns to walk back toward his car, Nitz tells Dash to keep his distance from Red Crow's daughter - no pussy is worth fucking the investigation - and to stop whining and get back to work.

That night Dash gets drunk and breaks into the lone library on the rez. He pulls every newspaper article he can find about the FBI incident from 30 years prior at Standing Rock. He reads one about the four leading members of the Dog Soldier Society - Lincoln Red Crow, Gina Bad Horse, Arthur "Catcher" Pendergrass and Lawrence Belcourt. The most recent article in the stack is about Belcourt confessing to the two murders. Dash takes the articles and leaves the library. He leaves the articles on the doorstep of his mother, Gina Bad Horse. He then throws a rock through her front window before driving off. Gina (Tantoo Cardinal) wakes up from the noise of broken glass. She shakes Diesel (Kevin Gage) in bed next to her until he wakes up too. She asks him to take a look to make sure they are safe. Diesel groggily rises from the bed. He grabs a baseball bat and takes a swig of warm beer. He finds the broken window. He opens the front door to look around, but only finds the articles on the steps.
