Season 32 continued with another solid round at the box office (albeit a mediocre one with the critics). Here's The Roundup....
3. Meirad Tako
On Life and Living wasn't for me, but you have to commend Meirad Tako on taking another huge swing on a film (even if I found it to be a bit of a miss).
2. Box Office
Wesley Campbell may not be happy but Gargoyles 2 grossed over $400 million at the box office on a brand probably close to its expiration date, 25 seasons after the first film, and with stars on the downturn. It helped the season's overall box office, even if it didn't make the same profits as the first film.
1. Sadie Sink
I didn't find much to enjoy in An Irish Rendezvous, but one could not argue that Sadie Sink is not a legitimate movie star at this point. She carried a mediocre movie with low box office potential on paper to profits in a genre that doesn't always pay off.
3. Gargoyles 2
I did not like the first film very much at all outside of the first 30 minutes. I still didn't like the sequel very much, although I must say it was a slight improvement over the first one.
2. An Irish Rendezvous
About the only thing about Jacob Jones' latest that worked was the casting of Sadie Sink. I found myself scratching my head a lot at some of the choices made by the filmmakers throughout the film. Make a film set in Ireland with only one Irish cast member? Close with a jukebox number of Lou Bega's infamous one hit?
1. Metascores
While there were no major critical flops this round, I'm sure the studio was hoping for a better average Metascore than 53 for the round.
